A huge thanks to CofR for his work, and a shout out to Suave as well for the medal projection and tracking! Between the two of them this was by far and away the best source for planning and following Olympic events.

Disappointing Games. Some great moments but a lot of squandered opportunity.

Feels like a C- Olympics. We won many of the medals we were supposed to, just not always the placement we wanted. Dandjinou was a pretty big disappointment, but short track is such a crapshoot. Winning men's curling was probably my favourite moment of the games, but feels like we're a few gold's short of what we expected.
Some events (Nordic and sledding) Canada is just a non-factor. I don't know if it's from a lack of funding, but we have a ton of ground to make up there. We're great on the ice and in X-games events. We need to gain ground on those classical events. It seems like many athletes from other countries train in Canada, so why aren't we as competitive with our resources?

I’d give it a B. Maybe a B- due to losing both hockey games and women’s curling.

My most memorable moments:
- Lindsay Vonn crash (feels like that was months ago!)
- That Italian long track run where the crowd seemed to just will her to an amazingly fast run
- Something similar happened for an Italian biathlete, and a bunch of other good/excruciating moments in biathlon races
- Curling drama
- The leading male slalom skier missing a gate on his 2nd run when he was virtually guaranteed a medal (very likely gold) if he just made it down the course. Dude hucked a pole, marched off into the trees and laid down in the snow. I think he might still be there.
- something similar happened in the women's slalom
- Oldham's gold in big air and the men's big air final being incredibly close
- some scary crashes in the halfpipe and a super scary crash in women's short track
- Sarault and the Dutch skater falling on crappy ice
Just gonna forget about the hockey stuff

Any particular reason why Canada has a lot of success in one group of disciplines and completely almost no presence in the others. For example, it seems Canada has always been strong in speed skating. Is it because the funding is just there for that sport or we have the proper facilities for training and nothing for the others?

Youth hockey (and historically ringette) participation leads to a lot of speed skaters. All roads in Canada lead to an ice surface sooner or later. Including community and backyard rinks.
I'm not sure what the situation is really like in Norway, but I'm guessing nordic skiing isn't relegated to second-class beg/borrow/volunteer status at a few golf courses per city. OTOH hockey would be more niche and less resourced there.

CofR is definitely the MVP of the Olympics for me. Thank you so much for what you do.
Rather disappointing Olympics in the medal haul department, not fun seeing Canada slide down the medal tracker compared to previous years. It's to the point where maybe that is no longer an appropriate metric around the country's performance since the medal allocation by discipline is totally disproportionate.
I'd say men's hockey and Homan not winning gold are rather large disappointments. The athletes that I follow outside the Olympics are men's hockey and the curling teams so those carry more weight for me. Alpine skiing used to be the same and it was awesome when Canada was competitive in the downhills. It's a shame that we have disappeared in those sports.
