Unlike Kadri/Coleman he hasn’t voiced a desire to move on (yet) I think that’s the difference diss is trying to outline.

He also has 5 years remaining on his contract which is another thing the Senators would have to take into consideration. Given the year he is having and the term I don't see Weegar getting a blue chip D man like Yakemchuk in return. I think Weegar is much more valuable to the Flames right now with the leadership he brings then in any trade.

Keeping around some vets to usher in the youth is imperative IMO, and having vets that actually WANT to be here is ideal. Weegar is not having a good year, but I think his hard-working, warrior mentality would really inspire the kids in the right way.

I think the Weegar being horrible thing is overblown. He’s been unlucky, and is near the top of the league in quite a few categories in advanced stats. I remember seeing it on one of the broadcasts it’s like breaking up plays, and a few others. Too lazy to look for it but it surprised me. On a better team I think his stats would improve and whoever acquired him would be more than happy with him.

I agree and I think Conroy is smart enough to realize that. I think that he will continue his trend similar to the Rasmus trade. Any trade involving the usual suspects will see some sort of veteran coming back, not only for money reasons but also to provide that leadership in the dressing room. And who knows these guys can then be sent out again at the deadline next year for more picks.

Fun fact - my boys hockey today was put on by Dillon Dube’s brother - skills/skating session with him and some AA players from Cochrane.

It doesn’t need to be ‘out there’ for it to be believable.

Ok, do you want to elaborate on what makes it believable?

That a veteran player would consider relocating from a 29th place team currently trading away most of its other veterans players to a team with playoff aspirations in a city he has ties to? It’s not a reach.

Friedman reporting Rantanen out for the bronze medal game with a lower body injury.
Could be an interesting development for Dallas.

Probably not too bad since he played yesterday...not worth the risk for a Bronze

He's clearly dealing with something. He's not skating like he usually does, and that coaches are shielding him from C duties.

At the end of the France game he was flexing his leg like it was hurt.

I can sure see why the NHL is apprehensive about letting their players go.
They give up the revenue or having some kind of all star celebration break on top of having numerous star players injured and needing to condense their schedule.
Did they at least negotiate some kind of revenue agreement with the Olympics this time around? I remember that being a point of contention in the past when players weren't allowed to go.

I agree with the sentiment of keeping some vets around, but now with Whitecloud in the fold it feels like one of the two should be traded, but I'm not sure who at this point.
