Since you selected some New Wave-type artists, I thought I'd add a few:

Life's What You Make It - Talk Talk (perhaps one of the most underrated bands of the 80s)
"C" Moon Cry Like a Baby - Simple Minds
Someone Like You - New Order
Don't Answer Me - Alan Parasons Project

Agreed, however it's popularity has caused it to overshadow a library of incredible work....much of which is on par with Stairway, IMHO.

i didn't say it was overrated, i said it was played too much. Zeppelin has such an impressive vault of songs to choose from it's depressing that so much of it never gets any airtime because every radio station is obsessed with Stairway

Really? I thought it cheesy and over-rated. But the others I agree with.

If I were to name something under-rated by Adams it would be the whole "Into the Fire" album, particularly Heat of the Night.

Let's see what else I can come up with:

AC/DC - Flick of the Switch album, particularly "Rising Power"

Chain of Fools - Aretha
Hurricane - Dylan
Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out - Springsteen
Maybe Baby - Buddy Holly
Half-Breed - Cher
Chris de Burgh's whole "Spanish Train" albums, especially the title track.
Industrial Disease - Dire Straits (I remember as a kid, I'd do my homework to a tiny transister radio - when this was a hit, I'd spend more time turning the dial trying to find it than actually doing homework)

I'm a HUGE Don Henley fan, so I could do a whole list of underappreciated songs, but I'll put "A Month of Sundays" at the top of the heap.

I never, ever, ever have heard "In the Ghetto" by Presley on the radio. I have that in my "30 Star Songs" playlist. But that's the kind of stuff that my mother would play when I was a kid...

Say You Will - Foreigner
December, 1963 - Frankie Valli
Heartless - Heart
Gimme Some Truth - Lennon
Rain on the Scarecrow - Mellencamp (another in the 30 stars playlist)

Zepplin's whole Presence album, particularly "Achilles Last Stand".

I Don't Care Anymore - Phil Collins
I also don't hear "Against All Odds" on the radio anymore....
Brass in Pocket - Pretenders

Everything R.E.M. did before "Automatic for the People".

Rock and a Hard Place - Stones
Famine, Black Boys on Mopeds - Sinead
God Part II - U2

What a fantastic song.

And I now realize it is missing from my Mellencamp's "Best I've Done" CD. Time to get some new Mellencamp.

Agree with much of your other suggestions too. Well done!

How about the entire Load album by Metallica? It's easy to pick on that album, but it's my favorite of all their stuff. That doesn't mean I despise their 80s music either.
