McDavid’s interview after the game was the first one where he seemed like a real dude. Relaxed and smiling. He really is wasting his career in the armpit of the west.

Just looked at Slovakia's roster. I didn't realize how few NHL guys they had. Slafkovsky, Pospisil, Tatar, Ruzicka (didn't know he was on there), Nemec, Fehervary, Cjernak.
Surprised they made it this far, but I admittedly haven't watched a single game they have played. Though, seeing Czechia play Canada it's not all about star power. I'm not holding my breath they'll beat the US.
I do think this team could have used Bedard. So far, the guys that are standing out and doing most of the heavy lifting for team Canada are the elite game breakers (McDavid, Celebrini, McKinnon, Crosby, Makar). And I think Bedard would be one more of those types of players and having one in a tournament like this could be the difference in winning gold. I actually think he would be a great fit with Suzuki who is used to playing with an elite right-shot goalscorer.
Obviously they still have a great chance to win gold and hindsight is 20/20. Win or lose though, I think Bedard should have been on the team.

Honestly it would be cool to see a group of mostly European league-based players beat a 100% nhl-composed team.

You can never have too many catalysts/game breakers. Even if he has to slide to the wing. Although he had a couple moments today I think Marchand has been replaceable as the "small" forward of the crop. Bedard is probably an upgrade and you don't threaten the size make up of the team by swapping those two.
Oh well. It just would have been neat to see all the top Canadian talents there.
The Czech coach complains about the reffing after they score a late go-ahead goal with 6 guys on the ice.
Teemu complains about the reffing after a blatantly obvious and frankly unarguable high-stick.
Both our curling teams have been accused of “cheating” after very minor and non-impactful rule violations that multiple other curling teams have done in this same tournament.
I feel like I’m living in the twilight zone. Canada being accused of getting preferential treatment all tournament long is really getting old.
Right, and if Canada lost that game people would find no complaints
It is what it is. Also worth noting that there were quite a few interviews, for some reasons Canadians seem to enjoy highlighting this stuff instead of all the comments about how great your players are and how good your team played.
Also, FYI, post-retirement Selänne has turned out to be just a really garbage guy. He's respected as a player, but as a person he (and his wife) are probably some of the least liked celebrities in the country.
If he's not whining about hockey he's whining about how women are out of control, or liking messages about white supremacy and how queerness is a sickness.
There's literally been a meme that if a Selänne is complaining about you, you know you've done something right.
