Thai Tai is finally back open and back on 17th, pretty much right across from the old location, this time on the north side of the avenue.

Now they're gonna be adjacent to another Viet Sub place, Kim Anh, which I preferred over Thai Thi.

Pretty much just a few doors down. I've tried Kim Anh before but never went back, I've been loyal to Thai Tai for over 20 years now and so damn happy they're back.

If I recall that old Thai Tai location, ran into Alberta Health issues too, with vermin.

They opened a new Tim Horton's in Belmont.
I'm still waiting for a gas station. There's probably 20,000 people living in Silverado, Yorkville, Belmont and Sirocco yet the nearest gas station is east of McLeod Trail in Walden.

My sister lives in Silverado. I hate it.

That community appears to have been designed specifically for me to hate it with every fiber of my being. I loathe it.

I wonder if someone I went to High School with built it and somehow convinced my sister to move there specifically to make me want to hang myself every time I have to go visit her.

Where the F is Belmont and Yorkville?

And why is a new community named Sirocco, where there is an area around Signal Hill called Sirocco already. In fact, a C-Train station is named Sirocco over there. Can't land developers be more original in naming new communities?

The next two communities in the city should be Ogdenville and North Haverbrook

I have not been to Greedy Donut on MacLeod Trail but it looks like they are opening up a location in Fifth Avenue Place. I'm a big fan of donuts but not crazy about filled donuts although I will give them a try and I always welcome more donut places opening up near my office.

Dave's Red Hot chicken is the latest American chain that was anticipated here in Canada, I believe? It was so mediocre for the price, just awful value. It would be fine enough it was a standard Mcdonalds/Wendys fast food place with a drive through. But those dummies wanted like $25 for a decent combo with drink and the chicken was stringy and merely passable.

Why was this place hyped at all? It seems they rely on their sauces and choosing your level of hot sauce as a gimmick to hide extremely mediocre food that's worth half what they charge. What a waste.

Weird. I disagree with just about every word of that.

I thought Dave’s was a little pricey but otherwise the chicken itself was great (same quality as a lot of top Korean chicken places here) and the portions were massive. I thought a combo wouldn’t be enough but my partner and I both got one and we were completely stuffed (we got the two tender/two slider one).

Not sure about their sauces since I didn’t see any available (everything we got was a dry rub/coating) and I can’t say I’ve heard any hype, but maybe whatever location you went to does it totally different.

The spice levels are pretty hit and miss though. I think medium is the sweet spot and hot is good if you want it properly spicy. Mild was almost flavourless and xtra hot was a bit much.

Either way, I’d go back. Definitely not in the same category as standard fast food or overhyped stuff like Carls Jr.

I had it and thought it was quite good. Maybe try Dave’s hot chicken instead of Dave’s red hot chicken next time?

I've heard that they cook their chicken bone dry, which is how most Calgarians like their chicken.

Also I've heard the Macleod Trail location is good because they don't cook it to death.
