Am I the only one who’s getting the first one for Coleman seems like a lot in return?

No. Honestly a 2nd and A minus prospect, but we're trying to be positive around here, so we can be horribly disappointed later.

I generally think CP is too optimistic in expectations in trades , but I would expect a 1st for Coleman.

Sorry Dino, you had that disrespect coming.
Thank you for your contribution, and to all others that have history breaking news, whether your allegiances are with the other side of the iron curtain or not. It's much more fun dissecting the transaction than it is the creditbility, especially when the provider has established history.
I think you are right though, once the break is done, we will see a flurry of action.

I don’t think they trade Coleman unless he gets a first equivalent back

apparently they have had multiple offers that have met their ask...my guess is they are weighing them

Considering Coleman was acquired for free, and had some solid years, I wouldn't be too disappointed with any reasonable return.

If the ask is a first or equivalent for Coleman, I can easily see multiple teams meeting that ask. Honestly, Coleman could probably return 1st + good prospect or 1st + 2nd + 4th or something like that. Here's hoping.

Does Coleman have a similar value to Panarin(Greentree + cond 2nd + cond 4th)? I have a hard time seeing that, so I would be pretty happy with a pair of 2nds.

Panarin had a NMC, that definitely impacted the trade. Less about value and more about a player dictating where he is going. LA was not in a bidding war.

Insanely optimistic a lot of the time. It's always the "build up". The more time this board has to bounce trade ideas off each other when a trade partner rumour comes up, the more we see Markstrom for 10thoA or Andersson for a team's best young prospect....It's hilarious, every time. It leads to disappointment in almost every trade that comes to fruition, but we keep doing it.

I still think that 90 point wingers hold more value.
Which 30+ year old, 0.5PPG winger was traded for a 1st+ in the last 10 years? Because, I'm honestly drawing a blank here.
Foglino maybe? When he was traded to the Leafs, but I can't remember if he was playing mostly C back then.

Coleman is pretty unique in the current market, and there are probably 5-10 potential suitors given the state of both conferences right now.
Coleman can be traded to 10 teams without his permission but there have been reports he would work with Craig for a shot at one more championship, or to be closer to home, if a team not on his approved list submits a good offer. Panarin had a full NMC, and made it extremely clear he was only going to the Kings. Not apples to apples.
All that said, I think he gets two 2nds or equivalent, not a first.

Far, far, far worse players have fetched 1st round picks at the deadline. There's always a risk that the player you trade for doesn't fit in or make a difference on the ice. The risk of that happening with Coleman is pretty low. He's going to make a difference on the PK and in a 3rd line role. Every team in the league would love to have a Blake Coleman.

If the best offer for Coleman is a 2nd, the Flames will keep him until the next TDL, when he will be worth at least that. His leadership, work ethic, and championship experience will be valuable for young players trying to learn to be not just NHL regulars, but also NHL champions.

My wishful thinking is something around,
Blake Coleman for Conor Geekie
I would be happy to add a sweetener or take on a bad contract to see something around this.
Again wishful thinking but I hope the next couple of trades are more centered around higher end prospects then the accumulation of picks.
