Im in the minority i guess....i want the US to win because i want a US/Canada gold medal game....after the 4Nations it would be about as must see TV as could exist IMO. Add in how those 2 teams bring out the best hockey in each other and.....its a no-brainer.
Plus....who doesnt wanna be in a pub Sunday morning at 530 am
That's a selfish view.
Sure it would be fun to watch that hockey game.
But how much more fun would it be for the US to leave this tournament without even a shot at a medal in hockey.

This is probably going to get lost in the shuffle, but the way Marner scored that goal highlights an important point about how this team plays.
I don't think the problem is really that they have a bunch of plumbers out there. The problem is frequently that they've got a bunch of all stars who are being asked to play like plumbers most of the time - i.e., over the course of a game we need to be conservative and wait for our chances and then we have the talent to finish those chances and win the game without giving up too much.
Then you have Marner who seems categorically incapable of playing like anyone besides Mitch Marner, doing spinning backhand passes to create open net looks and rushing the puck into multiple defenders and other insane things that would really only make good sense in the context of an all star game.
In some cases that's actually probably bad, because as we've seen it sometimes causes guys to pass up good shooting opportunities because they're going for highlight reel tap in goals. But in the case of a couple of the skill players, we could stand to see a bit more of the solo dashes and the "#### it, I'll do it myself" sort of stuff, especially from MacKinnon, Makar, and the few other guys on the roster who are realistically capable of it.

I think my number one scenario would be play and absolutely obliterate the Americans in the Gold medal game.
You just know all the political tensions are going to re-surface if we meet up with the Americans, so shoving it down their throats would be glorious.
Did Finland finish behind Slovakia? I thought that the teams are reseeded after the quarter finals which would mean we would face the 4th ranked seed which I would have thought would be Slovakia. (pending result of US/SWE of course)
Well, we can all give thanks that that didn't decide the outcome, because good lord, what a black mark on the refs there. Like, there are clearly six guys in the huddle jumping around and celebrating. We have the excuse of poor camera angles... How do all four officials miss that?

That would have been the worst miss in hockey history
top team out of the olympics because 4 officials couldn't see 6 skaters on the ice for 30+ seconds. I'm not too impressed with team staff either TBH. This wasn't a guy half a second early off the bench.
