All true, it’s just missing intense fan pressure forced him out. I don’t recall another leaf player facing more negative comments in my life. I couldn’t find a leaf fan that could say a positive thing.

The look on his face as he took in his last skate off the ice in Toronto tells you all you need to know. All things being equal, and being a local kid, he’d be a leaf for life.

Yup Marner leaving the Leafs isn't really Dubas or Treliving's fault.

It's the Toronto fan base and Media that took a kid who grew up a Leafs fan and turned his lifelong dream of playing for the Leafs into a nightmare and ran him out of the town.

63 points in 70 career playoff games wasn't enough and it was always his fault when the team fell apart late in series instead of the team just not having enough depth or defensive strength around them to succeed.

That was one of the worst missed calls in hockey history...the fact it almost took the top team out of the Olympics is absolutely wild.

This should be blowing up like crazy. Where the #### were the coaches? Officials?

I'd go with that next game for lines if Crosby is out.

Mackinnon needs some more size and speed to play with, Horvat and Wilson both bring that.

Put the Florida guys together and see if they can find some chemistry.
They moved MacKinnon to the wing because he's hobbled by something. If it isn't resolved by Friday, I'd like to see something like:

Celebrini-McDavid-Wilson
Marner-Suzuki-MacKinnon
Hagel-Horvat-Stone
Jarvis-Bennett-Reinhart
Marchand

It's weird that Cooper had no comment...guess for him he can't say a whole lot since unless I missed it I don't think him or Canada's bench really didn't raise a big protest at the time of the goal either.

Edit: Duthie saying on twitter that talking to Canadian players on the ice or the bench none of them realized it either, and only one Czech player realized it. So weird that nobody noticed in real time.

Agreed. Don’t understand how that happens. Imagine that was the gold
Medal game and Canada never tied it. Embarrassing.

Wow. Thank goodness Canada won that game. What a travesty if Czechia had scored the wining goal with too many men on the ice. Thats ridiculous.

True and I'm not trying discredit any of those countries. I see your location is in Finland so I'll tell you right away they're the one hockey country outside of Canada that I'm most fond of! Finland to hockey reminds me of what Croatia is to football. Small population of passionate, overachievers that came from a efficient sporting program.

The only thing I'd push back on your post is that while they have a larger population, without knowing first hand I'd assume Czechia has had some instability when it comes to funding sports programs in somewhat recent history.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this, because I've never actually been to a Scandinavian country (although I plan on it!). But I have been to Czechia and from what I've seen it doesn't seem like a complete 'hockey country', the interest & funding in the sport seems like it's more region based. Whereas I assume countries with smaller populations like you mentioned might have more established programs.

Kinda surprised none of the media is bringing this up yet. Imagine the uproar if Canada lost. All Canadians care about is winning gold in hockey and to piss off an entire nation over a blatant missed call. Oof.

They ended the play with 7, another guy comes on the Ice as they're going the other way
