I don't think it's flagged by the resort or Parks. I've never taken the traverse that far though. When I've done Pipestone in the past, we always climbed back up Pipestone and skied West Bowl. This was before West Bowl was part of the resort though. Back then there used to be flags at the bottom of West Bowl as well for when it was time to start traversing back. They were little yellow signs with arrows and happy/sad faces. I've never gone far enough West to miss these signs so I assume they wrap all the way around.
Fun fact, you can still see the yellow signs in a few places below the new cat track.

Norquay is offering lift tickets for $18.67 on April 2nd. Looks like you can book online.

I've never skied there, so not sure if that price makes it worthwhile.

Funny story. Get to this Moiwa Lodge, and see my buddy’s small custom pow stick on the wall of this lodge. I ask about it, our buddy is a mutual.. and the owner, who goes by the nick name Dirk Diggler. He skied Fortress a bunch, as did we around similar years (90’s). Chatting more, and helping him with his shotty wifi, his one employee mentions cricket, and implores about Dirks bowling. Dirk replied almost begrudgingly, as the topic on hand — skiing pow, Canada etc, brought much more enthusiasm.

Hi Folks,
I wanted some advice on when to buy the mountain collective pass? I bought a couple of years ago (I think in early autumn) and got a discount of about 15% and the third day.
Now I see that it's regular price for the pass ($849) with the 3rd day free, and that 3rd day free expires in 2 weeks (Apr 27).
Should I buy it now or do you think there will be a discount later in summer?

This reminds me how I missed the annual ski swap and need to find some decent used skis for myself and the wife.

Fernie has its annual ski swap this Friday. It's put on by the race team, so I'll be there volunteering.
It's a pretty big event and there's a TON of good deals to be had. We help price the gear out (it's probably 80% consignment) so you can expect to find stuff a few years old for CHEAP. There are also retailers that come down and sell last years gear at big discounts.
Highly recommend it over the ones in Calgary.

Good morning, Castle fam! This is Cole checking in with your morning report for Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
If you're looking for a midweek powder day, today is your day! With close to 15 cm of new snow overnight, on top of nearly 10 cm during the day yesterday, the skiing and riding is going to be sublime today. That and it's going to be super quiet out here so you'll feel like you've got the place to yourself!

Castle's new chair opened a week ago and I was there this weekend. It's amazing. Detachable high-speed quad opening an entire new mountain is the best. The base was incredible, obviously, since it was untouched all season. We did get 7cm fresh, which was notable on top of the pristine base. Missed their 30cm two days later, but whatever. This is a gamechanger for Castle. Get out there if you haven't been. It's an insane hill, about as close as Louise, and nobody goes so there are no lines.
P.S. The fries rule and the baked potato shack is an awesome and cheap lunch.

Castle 44 cm in 72 hours. New Stagecoach chair and new runs are great. I think they can technically claim to be 2nd largest resort in Alberta.
Fernie 76 cm in 7 days. A woman skier died at Fernie last week.

You ski down to it from Huckleberry Chair. Before there was cat skiing only in this area.
Mount Haig:
https://www.skicastle.ca/wintermaps/
"A completely NEW mountain, Mount Haig, opened for all to enjoy in December of 2006."
"Our Powder Stagecoach Cat Ski operation has completed its last season of operations and will not be operational for the 2025-2026 season."
1454 hectares / 3592 acres
115 + trails
8 alpine bowls
2 mountains
