Bieksa just said that Stone and Marner got one shift after Crosby left. I get the Stone part - he's most effective playing with Crosby. But Marner, you just have to find a spot for and give him some minutes. That one shift he played resulted in an open net for Suzuki that is a 95% goal. That's just a clear mistake by Cooper if he doesn't adjust.

Yeah by all means cheer for Czechia against your own country they're a real bunch of underdogs, new to this stage of hockey and they have Radko Gudas to boot

If the complaint is “too many role players, not enough scorers”, that’s not about Suzuki, who has 65 points in 57 games this season. I mean, that’s out pointing Crosby.

Not sure I agree. He's 5th in points and 7th in p/gp among Canadian forwards the last two seasons while also being a very strong defensive center.

He's just playing a bit out of role as a winger and think he's looked better since shifting back to center with Crosby out.

They need to score so doughhead Gudas pays for it. Czechs are taking too many liberties. They need to pay.

You obviously can't predict injuries but not dressing Bennett leaves a huge hole at Center for us A) With Mac clearly dinged up and now B) Crosby down.

You'd think Cooper would always lean keeping an extra C over Winger.

Disagree. He's a great player.

I do however think Canada missed an opportunity getting Bedard on the team. Celebrini definitely has the edge over Bedard for his two way play, but Bedard has a wicked shot that could've been used on PP2.

With Crosby and MacKinnon getting injured in the tournament, makes me wonder if we will see NHL players at the Olympics in 2030.

I would love to see the game get put out of reach and that guy get KOed. Double bonus if he can't play for the ducks for some time so we don't have to watch him against the flames

I didn't see the second period, does the Crosby injury look serious?

Yep. Suzuki deserves to be here, again, no matter what your priorities were for building this roster.

The only thing that would keep him off is positional inflexibility; he has to play center and should not be on a wing. So if you were planning to play McDavid / MacKinnon / Crosby / Point down the middle before Point got hurt, there is an argument for omitting him. But I just think he should be 4C.

I’m eerily ok with it.

They have a lot of guys who play centre though. Suzuki, Horvat, Jarvis, Reinhart, Celebrini, MacKinnon, McDavid.

I agree, but I suspect he's injured. He missed practice yesterday. They called it a 'maintenance day', but why take a maintenance day if you're not playing the next day.

Yeah. But it’s pretty odd that a guy who plays centre just can’t play wing. Most of them seem able to do it.

Though that seems to be an issue with Bennett too.
