Just watched The World is Not Enough last night, and it wasn't quite as bad as I remember. It's one of those 'better than the sum of it's parts' movies, and it's certainly better than it's reputation. It's still not very good, don't get me wrong--but it's at least watchable, held together by pretty strong action sequences.
I agree Marceau was great--easily one of the highlights of the movie. Wickedly good performance, especially in contrast to a bland Robert Carlisle who was just plain dull for a Bond villain (and barely in it!)

First time watch of Training Day, what a movie! Easy 10/10. Denzel Washington/Ethan Hawke both killed it and the script/structure of the movie was brilliant. Pretty embarrassed I waited this long to watch the movie.

Saw Wuthering Heights with my wife today as part of our Valentine's Day celebrations.
I wasn't sure I would like it, but man, it delivered. Really cool aesthetics throughout. The set/production design, costumes, and landscapes tell a huge chunk of the emotional story. The plot is reimagined a little, but is still largely faithful to the original text. The acting is quite strong throughout.
The story feels like a classic romance, but it has some parts to it that make it more interesting than that relating to human nature and fate.
It's a little dark, very sexy, and quite beautiful. I recommend for anyone to see, if only for the visuals. It's still compelling beyond that, but the visual are quite superb, and make it that much more compelling.
8/10.

Browsing the 'Just Added' category on Netflix and notice not 1... but 3 movies added that Catherine O'Hara stars in (Best In Show (2000), A Mighty Wind (2003), For Your Consideration (2006)). Or at least I assume she stars in, I haven't seen any of these movies but she is in the thumbnail for each.
It's great people are celebrating O'Hara's legacy. But this feels a bit icky to me? Netflix clearly bought the rights/added these movies to their catalogue because of her death, knowing more people would be looking to watch her stuff. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, a corporation doing corporation things, but I was just taken aback by how blatant it was.
TV channels and movie theaters have been doing exactly this for about a long as movies have existed.
I really don't understand why people have so much irrational hate on Netflix.
My kid is having a party tonight and we have to retreat to the bedroom. What's a good movie to watch on Netflix or Prime? Can't find schit that piques my interest. Is Anaconda any good? Silly or awesome are fine.

I was similarly just looking for something and am now watching 'Sorry to Bother You' on Prime. Idk if its good yet but saw some other forum posts where people were saying its very good/underrated and it has a great cast.

We watched Roadkill(1989) last night. I know it's been recommended here before. Fun Canadiana period piece. Lead ancestress went on to some other stuff, like The Expanse. She's very photogenic in B&W. Under an hour and a half too.

I just finished Sorry To Bother You, it was definitely very weird. I feel like they should have shortened the first 3/4 of the movie and extended the last 1/4, the pacing felt a bit off to me. I'd give it like a 6/10.
Take Shelter (2011, on Prime) was not at all what I was expecting! It feels like an accurate portrayal of mounting psychological strain, with Michael Shannon playing a man slowly spiralling while trying to hold his life and family together. Shannon certainly has some shining moments.
Ace Ventura Pet Detective is peak Jim Carrey. But what kills me is that the only version available, unless you’re into full screen DVDs, is the original theatrical which omits some of my favourite scenes.

I think it shows how utterly trash some bond films are. I would agree. The World is Not enough is...fine; and it's still number 10 on my list.
Everything after Tomorrow Never Dies on my list (which is 10 movies!) I would consider trash movies.
The top 3 are great. 4-8 are re-watchable, 9-16 ill watch if they are on (which, without cable doesnt really happen anymore), and 17-26 are movies i would probably just avoid.
1) Watched We Bury the Dead last night. Thought it was ok, nothing amazing but had some good images, scare scenes and concepts. 6/10. Daisy Ridley was good and it had a a bit of a philosophical take on zombies. Surprisingly refreshing considering how many zombie movies are out.
2) Hell House: Carmichael Manor. Crap. They should have stopped the Hell House movies after the first one.
3) Hell House: Lineage. Just as bad, maybe worse. I fast forwarded through it just to finish it.
Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie is hilarious. Go support a Canadian comedy.
I caught it last Fri, saw the trailer a few times but had no intention of seeing it and had no idea what it was, all I knew was one of the guys was in an indie movie called "The Dirties" that Kevin Smith liked.
More than a few really funny moments and I appreciate what they did with the footage filmed in the past. It's not a high budget movie but quite well done, I would recommend if you want to see something different, have a few laughs and support Canadian content as was mentioned.
