I can't believe USA's "brain trust" includes Bowman and Drury. I don't know if there's a full working brain between them. The jury is still out on Guerin, but the other two might be the worst in the NHL.

it'll end with gold in men's hockey and nothing more ... Are we okay with that? Winning the premier team event is something, but it would be a disappointing Olympics overall.

The risk/reward for penalties with no advancement to a podium makes the final a crapshoot.

I know there are different ways of looking at the medal table, each with their pros and cons, but how the #### by any measure, is Australia ahead of Canada at the Winter Olympics?

I dont know much about short track but it seemed like the latvian guy who won 2nd initiated body contact and checked a Canadian out of the race in the semi yet somehow got advanced, and then in the final it looked like the south Korean body checked the Canadian who was the favourite.
Tough day for canada overall

I bet you’d have to back many years to find a time where Homan blew a game after being up 3 with hammer. Really unfortunate.
The quality of ice in Canada is a blessing and a curse. Just creates uncertainty when you go international. For some international teams, this ice might be among the best they’ve played on while team Canada doesn’t seem comfortable with it.
Kind of a disappointing Olympics as a whole. Winning hockey gold would certainly help us forget some of it but it would be awesome for couple of surprises to come along the way.

And Canada has the 2nd largest Olympic team behind only the US. Guess we just have a lot of "happy to be there" folks

Brazil is technically higher in the medal count than Canada.

I’m ####ing hearing it over here with Brits on at me about how they’re higher up the medal table.
It’s embarrassing.

Not sure about this.
Did you expect more than CBC projected?
Actual count is within a medal or two of their projections - so it would probably be most accurate to say about as expected.
Of course this was a disappointing result. And provides no momentum, which somewhat surprisingly seems to be a real thing in terms of inspiring the whole team.

Homan isn't cursed at the Olympics, she just doesn't play well in that situation and her rink hasn't played well this year coming in. It's a different kind of pressure.
The idea that we need to send an all star curling unit to the Olympics is flawed though. Each of the players we send are basically the best at their position. You wouldn't want Kevin Koe playing second any more than Celebrini should play D.
And the whole Kennedy controversy. IMO people need to stop apologizing for it or coming up with excuses. And he needs to own it. It's akin to teeing your ball up an inch in front of the markers on a 600 yard hole. There is zero discernible advantage but it is against the rules. Full stop. Imagine if Corey Conners points out to Bryson that he is teed up in front of the markers and Bryson tells him to #### off.
What a frustrating Olympics so far.

Maybe we are boycotting the gold medals
But seriously what is going on with the last two Olympics? Will 4-5 gold medals become the norm now? Lack of funding or are kids being pushed out of these sports at an early age due to the expense? Crazy how far this country has dropped since 2010

I expect a little more than being behind Australia, Brazil and Britain at a Winter Sports competition.

Total medal count is kind of a weird way to measure success IMO. I can't think of a competition where third place feels as good as winning.
I guess comparing to the CBC projection is one measuring stick. They had Canada 4th in golds and 4th in total medals. I doubt we are getting close to that, especially on the gold side.
