I honestly think that the whole controversy is just related to trying to gain a competitive advantage. Even if the other teams don’t care if Canada does it it’s worth complaining because it throws Canada off their game.
And the way that the media and bot controlled social media sites have picked up on this is absolutely wild. Reddit threads are getting tens of thousands of views and comments from people who don’t know anything about curling but have declared a lifelong hatred for Canada and Alberta. It’s wild. Given the prevalence of misinformation and bot farms even the stupidest little controversies get blown out of proportion.
If this were actual cheating that was putting the legitimacy of curling in question, the other teams would have appealed the results or filed a protest.

That's the problem. We have 90% of the curlers who still have full jobs and restricted by provincial championships. The other countries invest in 1 or 2 great teams, full time curlers, no restrictions.
It would be like if in hockey Canada had a provincial championship and the winner went to the Olympics to face all of Sweden. McDavid and Crosby wouldn't be on the same team.

Yeah I get that the pro teams can refine their game. But the pool of players canada has to select from is so massive. You would think we would have way more
talent. Im an amateur curler watching this and canada have missed multiple open shots guys in my beer league would hit, especially that shot where canada should have easily gone up 5-1 and turned it into a 4-2 game. even failed to throw across the hog line just now. I wonder if its just nerves or something
Edit and just now throw a fairly easy rock straight through the house. Ive honestly seen better games played by amateurs

But who cant select from the entire pool or you cant play in the Brier. Its restricted by province. In recent years you are allowed one import. 3 Alberta guys plus Jacobs.

Ah I see what you are saying so we curl with like our best player and then the best 3 players in that province rather than the genuine 4 best

I’m gonna be honest whenever Elliot Friedman says “I spoke to a former player” or “I spoke to a team executive” I just assume that 50% of the time he’s making it up and sharing his own opinion as someone else’s to give it more legitimacy.

She has not played well though....mind you her front end has created really tough situations for her as well. Fleury has been stellar but beyond that its a whole bunch of poor curling going on.
