Default 10 dead, including suspect, in mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, B.C.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...ates-9.7083740

Horrific tragic situation in a small town. 10 dead confirmed at this point.

So far not much being divulged, RCMP giving an interview right now.

RCMP said they will "struggle" to ever determine a motive
Seems an interesting statement to make so early in the investigation. What a horrendous situation.

The Herald said the suspect was a woman, apparently the emergency alert also said suspect was a woman.

The original police report was a woman in a dress with brown hair. So its not a rumor, but may not reflect what they did find in the end.

Horrible situation though. Small town of a couple thousand... lots of people there knew someone personally that was lost today.

Yikes. 8 dead at the school including the shooter. 2 more at a residence found later. How horrible.

Family member living in Tumbler Ridge says that "the word on the street" is that the shooter was a Grade 9 student, who also shot their family.

In that part of BC? Good luck with that. Everyone and their mums have guns out there.

Schools are ####ed these days in BC. My kid goes to school in Coquitlam and had to have shelter in place orders last week. At an elementary school.

She goes to middle school next year and one her friend's is going to a private school because her mom works at the middle school she is supposed to go to and said that kids in grade 6 are using cocaine and MDMA at school. Sending your kid to school these days is terrifying.

Tumbler Ridge was a coal mining town pretty much on the brink of being shuttered in the late 90's. I remember living in Prince George and hearing how houses were being auctioned off and selling for under 50k at the time when the Quintette mine shut down. They were trying to sell it as a resort like town at the time. It sort of rebounded and there's been a lot of fossils found in that region in recent years which in a way made it more than a mining outpost But remote Northern B.C. is a tough place to live. Sad story and thoughts are with the those impacted by this.

That is absolutely wild. Not that I know anything about rural BC, I'm sure it's not quite Manhattan, but hard drugs in grade 6 is madness.

Worst shooting at a school or university in Canada in close to 40 years.

Difficult to read after we had our worst mass killing in 30 years here in Sydney recently.
