If he starts pulling away from the pack down the stretch….send Conroy out on the private jet.

I think they may already be at that point. His goal.is to play in the NHL as soon as possible. Don't think he stays more than another year IF he even does that.

Probably not the best thing for him but who knows, the kid seems to adapt quickly.

He's in a weak division. No reason to get excited.
I guess.

Yeah they found a gem here. He's tearing up the league more than Celebrini did two years ago.
The last dozen games or so he's been producing at a 2 PPG clip. Bonkers.
Glad the next Johnny (in terms of rising out of the depth of the draft) didn't take too long!
Well done, scouting staff.

In many ways, this season from Wytter is a lot like probably what most of the hockey world was expecting from McKenna this year.

As a 5th round pick had he stayed in junior and was leading the USHL in scoring I still would be excited, what he's doing against older players in NCAA div-1 college is very rare no matter what the division.

Who is this Top Down Hockey and who do they have ranked high in 2026 that other people don't?

Yeah wow substantially less TOI than all the other top scorers, first skater with less average TOI is Will Horcoff who's tied for 20th in scoring. Honourable mention to Hage, he's close and tied for 9th.

More likely he goes back for a second college season. Probably a bidding war from the top schools this summer. Maybe takes McKenna's spot at Penn State? Just stay away from Doggie's Pub.

Also interesting to see that Nick guy that has the Flames prospect group at number one (after forgetting Henry B) had him going 41st.

Green text I hope?
Or sarcasm…
Either way, what a strange take if serious.
Guy expected to turn into nothing very likely could win best collegiate player as a 5th round pick here…
I think it’s okay to be excited.

Weak? By what standard? Is the ECAC the top conference? No. Is it a top conference? Yes, every year.
And all this talk about him transferring to a better program is just silly. Quinnipiac IS a top program.

Scoring Winger

He's likely only playing one more season of college hockey. Transferring programs doesn't seem worth it, especially when Quinnipiac by all accounts is a top program for strength and power development.
There aren't any concerns about whether Wyttenbach can figure out defenders at a higher level. The only question mark remaining is can he add a bit more speed and strength to separate himself more frequently at the next level. In that respect, I don't think any of the other programs are at an advantage compared to Qunnipiac.

Why couldn't he play in the NHL next year? His stats suggest he is of similar calibre to other players who came to the big league after a tremendous freshman season.

It's okay to be excited, and it's also fair to discuss the strength of opposition. Quinnipiac just beat unranked teams 9-1 and 8-0 this weekend. Compare that to the 1 and 2 ranked teams Michigan and Michigan State who played two games that finished 4-3 (OT) and 5-2. Wyttenbach is obviously playing in a bit of a point factory.
But at the same time, the absolute best you can hope for a prospect is that they dominate whatever situation they're in. That's what's happening here, and I think it's super exciting.

I agree that Quinnipiac is a top program but the ECAC is only about middle of the pack for conferences, I think it's behind the Big Ten and the NCHC for sure and likely behind Hockey East as well.

It's not like ECAC is Division III. Quinnipiac is a quality program.
Still, money has entered collegiate hockey.

There is also money to made if he does go pro. Even if he mostly plays on the AHL, he could burn a year of ELC or at least get NHL games on a poor flames roster. Before spots get taken by other young guys it may not be the worst idea to try and go pro after this season.
