I don't know know how big of a risk it is, but would a GM risk a 1-3 OA on it? I bet some wouldn't.

I believe since he's Indigenous that his travel eligibility between Canada and the USA wouldn't be affected

From everything we read and heard it sounded like felony assault was a bit much. Not surprised by this. He punched a guy at the bar. Dumb, immature, but certainly nothing that should derail his entire life.

good to see the felony charges dropped. He should have turned the other cheek and avoided this whole drama for sure, but clocking an obnoxious college bro shouldn't result in these kinds of charges either. It should be a teachable moment instead, and I hope it is for him.
I'd still pick him 1st overall, no doubt about it.

It's not as though major junior hockey is a great environment for young men. Being the biggest thing in town at age 18 in a place like Sudbury or Kamloops brings as much toxic entitlement as a star athlete on college campus, but without as much monitoring and institutional support.

The agreement you are referring to only allows most Indigenous people to cross without a government issued passport (they still need a status card, band membership card, or tribal record proving their status and identity). I doubt it protects them from being denied entry for having a criminal record. It also only applies to land crossings. If you travel by air, you still can be denied without a passport.

With what government officials are getting away with on a daily basis and in their pedo escapades with Jeffrey, this is no biggie.
Slap on the wrist and cash reparations are likely in order, but his career will proceed as planned.

He doesn't strike me as particularly extroverted either.
I'm sure it's more complicated than you've made it out to be from the outside. Money doesn't erase mental struggles if they are present. In fact, it can exacerbate them.

Fair enough. There are plenty of adult celebrities who struggle with the pressures of not having a normal life. I'm sure for some kids it's even harder to deal with.

Except there are still some pretty serious charges pressed against him and he could still get a criminal record. They dropped the most serious charge that they thought would be the hardest to get a conviction on, but the remaining charges still have major legal repercussions if he is found guilty.
