WTF are you on about? Pretty normal rivalry based fighting in a blow out. Nothing terrible happened.

I don't care about anyone's political affiliation, that's their prerogative.

I think it will come down to how well they play against DET(3 games) and PIT(2 games). The Panthers don't really have any games against COL, TBL, CAR, or DAL, so I could see them going on a run after the break as long as no one gets injured.
I have a hard time betting against the cup champs, even though they're unlikely to make the playoffs.

It went far beyond political affiliation, like he basically had his lips pressed against that racist pedo's ass.

Tkachuk is an embarrassment.
Changing my pic as soon as I get an idea for the next one.

He's pushing it for me. I'd like to think I'll always love him for the character and energy he brought to the Flames, but some of his comments on the podcast with Brady make me shake my head. I'd probably like to change my sig.

I certainly wouldn't be upset if EDM and FLA both miss.

Doesn't look likely that EDM will miss, four teams need to pass them, and their worst stretch so far was at the start of the season. One can hope though, pointswise it's far from impossible.
Better hope Panarin goes hot in LA.

Forsling chucking bombs on top of the ice is pretty pathetic. A ref had to rush in. Pretty gutless and against the code.
Thought that deserved extra punishment.

Yeah, if the Anaheim and Seattle win one their games in hand then suddenly Edmonton is sitting in WC2 spot. LA is 3 points back with 2 games in hand. Even SJ is 5 points back with 3 games in hand and 3 H2H left.
If the the Oilers come out slow out of the break it will definitely put pressure on them. Especially since they start with a west coast road trip against Anaheim, LA and SJ. Things might get interesting once the Calendar flips to March.

I never really liked Tkachuk even when he was here. I cheered for him obviously, and loved when he made a great play. But he was always a dudebro, and loved to play the press.
People wanted him to be captain? He's not captain material IMO.

Neither is Mikael Backlund but here we are. I can see why people have the idea Chucky wouldn't be a good captain, but how good he is with the press and how he lifts other players is precisely why he would be captain material.
He may be making questionable choices off the ice but the guy is a key player for USA and a two-time Cup champion, he deserves some respect.

I don't think he lifts other players. I think he rubs his teammates the wrong way, in fact. And the way he's good with the press is all about himself. As for being a two time champion, that's about being a good player on a good team. And he took himself right out of the 4 Nations with a selfish, showoff decision.
Backlund is a good captain who leads by example. Tell me the last time he did something selfish, came to camp in bad shape or embarrassed the team in some way. He's the guy who often turns rookies into NHLers on the team.

He did in Calgary but I don't think this is the case in Florida, I think he's a leader on that team. He wore an A here despite issues with some other players, Gio being an obvious one.
4 Nations final was a boneheaded move but I think that's more on the coaching staff, he isn't gonna self exclude unless he can't move.

The rich American sports star, the son of a rich American sports star is a fan of Donald Trump? I'm shocked. Yeah Tkachuk's boot licking is a bit nauseating but I love the player, same with Bennett. Would like to see the Panthers heal up and go for it again to be honest, we haven't had a three-peat since the Islanders who won four in a four, preceded by the Canadians who won four of their own. Would be pretty special to watch, even the much lauded 80s Oiler didn't do that.
This would be the 4th straight cup appearance by Florida if they did however, that's an insane amount of hockey for those guys.

Can't say I really want them to win it, I'm hopping on the Makar bandwagon personally. If making the playoffs is a stretch for Florida, winning 16 more games after that point with injuries continuing to mount, would be absurd frankly.

lol this is some crazy coping. He was named assistant captain here in Calgary at the age of 20, he's worn the A for two straight cups in Florida. Seems weird to put the guy you describe in your leadership group.

Sam Bennett had the same reaction as most of the hockey world when his Florida Panthers traded for Matthew Tkachuk in the offseason.
“I was not expecting that at all,”

Maybe he should have. It turns out, the Canadian forward is one of the biggest reasons Tkachuk decided he wanted to get traded to Florida in the first place and their connection
“There’s nobody I’d rather go out there with than,” Tkachuk told TNT , “a close friend of mine, a very close friend of mine.”

^ How is it coping? I said I never liked him. He made some great plays, I just think he was also selfish, immature and his "getting into their heads" act often worked against the Flames as much as for them.
