First they lose to the Flames and then they find out today that one of their golden boys isn't getting an Olympic invite. I love it!!! Keep making those entitled fans miserable!! Saw this online from some upset Greasepig fan

I’m not suggesting Seth Jarvis is a bad guy but I doubt he could even begin to carry the character and moral decency that Hyman has in his self.

What an idiotic fanbase!!!

I have a slight personal connection/ bias but I believe Hyman is likely generally a very decent dude (and yes that’s the nicest thing I ever have or will say about the oilers )

On the other hand Jarvis also seems like an interesting guy himself ( just observing from afar -no insight

And oh yes of course this is a hockey tournament anyhow not a scout jamboree

Ya ya, sure Hyman's possibly a decent dude on the street, only other Oiler after Skinner, but in here he's NO GOOD.

I wondered about that earlier... but wouldn't the management want him waitiing in the wings studying the team rather than walking in cold-turkey?

The goalie stuff and other stuff is normal for him and frustration. Whatever.

The only interesting words in that rant is randomly blurting out the coaches as part of this and then realizing his mistake and then quickly saying something else to try and deflect.

DeBoer is on the coaching staff at the Olympics. He'll get to study BOTH the Oilers there, Mavi AND Pissy!

He should have gone to the Kings when he had his chance.

He deserves to rot in Edmonton for the entirety of the contract he signed. Once McDavid leaves it's going to be glorious seeing pissy in the middle of rotten foundation with the walls crumbling all around him.

I read that interview as I'm the higher paid guy for more years. Hire my old junior coach.

No one particularly cared because he was a low draft pick but he did the NCAA 'loophole' to sign with Toronto after being drafted by Florida.

His dad also basically bought up everything he could to get his kids opportunities in hockey - bought a bunch of minor hockey organizations that his kids played on or against, bought the junior A team they all played for, bought the old ISS scouting service. No idea if that went how it usually went - but I assume other kids got screwed because of his dad buying up everything.

So he may be a decent dude - but he's been a part of a fair share of shady tactics.

Yup. It definitely puts one in the made column for professional athletes being made vs found.

Dan Lambert?

Would he leave the Flames for the HC gig with the No Goods?

You know its funny, because people are refusing to look at not only the structure of that team, and the coaching, but the fact that Pissy and the Con have been through about 5 coaches in the decade they've been there. In most cases we've seen Pissy and the Con play the way they want to play, take on the prime ice time and power play time. Half ass it on the back check, and glare angrily at anyone not them whenever something happens.

I question the Con's leadership and Draisaitl's leadership. I think they're part of the problem and have probably killed some of those coaches and there is probably a divide in that locker room.

If they fire Knobby the house Elf, and if I was a better then average coach and the Oilers approached me.

I'd look at the average life span of two years as a coach and being forced to live in Edmonton and the aging dying core of that team, and I'd realize I'm in a position of power.

I'd be asking for a 8 year retirement contract at 8 million bucks a year minimum, plus access to a private plane to fly out of Edmonton whenever I choose and my own personal cocaine fetcher to coach there.

Isn't the Knob already McDavid's hand picked coach?

I think blaming coaching is just stupid and lazy.

How many coaches? Some of them very experienced, have the Oilers gone through? They run through these guys like a hot knife through butter.

And each coach does exactly the same thing. Pair up the Lottery-Twins for ~25 minutes a night and blame sub-par goaltending while lamenting the lack of depth.

Nothing has changed.

If anything, Pissy was right about something, they're a worse team than they used to be...but they're still doing the exact same thing over and over again. And while the McTwins are putting up big point totals and whatnot...they are fighting against the immutable laws of ageing and diminishing returns.

This isn't basketball. You need more than 2 or 3 dudes if you want to seriously have a chance at winning.

Oilers are closer to the Flames in the standings than they are to the top 3 teams in the conferences.

The Oilers are at the end of their window, DeBoer will just wait until the end of the season and pick his team then.

There was also a story I believe from Friedman that the talk was the Panthers only drafted Hyman because they were hoping his dad would invest into the team.
