According to Frank Seravalli, the criminal complaint says that the encounter was caught on video. It also says that McKenna hit him twice.

I haven't seen the complaint obviously, but I am guessing Frank has a reliable source.

Police said surveillance video obtained from the area later showed McKenna throwing two punches at the victim's face. He had been captured leaving the bar right before he was caught on camera.

FWIW Ryan Lomberg's NCAA career ended when he got he was accused of knocking someone down and kicking him.

He did a plea bargain for misdemeanor disorderly conduct and had to pay a fine and paid for whatever the victim's insurance didn't cover for medical bills. The assault charges were dropped.

The University of Maine suspended him from the hockey team for 1.5 years and he returned to the USHL to continue playing. Flames signed him as a free agent after that season.
