Buffalo should absolutely be aggressive for guys with term
They need to lean into the good season to change the perspective of that franchise
It honestly doesn’t take a ton to go from “joke” to team players want to play for
Just look at Edmonton and the Jays as recent quick examples

The trouble they’ll have is that no one will want to go there that has trade protection. Maybe the Flames can get them to overpay for Whitecloud

I wonder if San Jose would consider a pick swap.
Calgary 2026 1st + Kadri for San Jose 2026 1st and Misa.
San Jose's pick should still be in the top 10, so you could walk away with Misa and Malhotra or Lawrence.

That is great news. This team has quantity. The need is quality.

There is no way Calgary is ever trading their 2026 1st.

If that's the ask from the Flames, this is gonna get done quick.
Teams want term when giving up prospects.
So. My guess... Welcome to CGY Nate Danielson.

I agree. Think this move makes sense for both sides for a number of reasons.

I could see a Danielson + '26 1st (late 20s) for Kadri + Pachal/Hanley.

lol this is where expectations got messed up
Nobody is going to trade their top blue chip prospect that they just drafted 2nd overall for a 35 yrs old , no matter how many pick you throw at them

Seravalli on 960:
Says its 60-40 that the Flames move Kadri (60% they do. 40% they don't)
He also said that Kadri's no trade list is mostly teams at the bottom of the standings
Steinberg puts the likelihood that Coleman gets moved at 90% or better
Seravalli puts Weegar at 20% based on the tire kicking.

Just brainstorming
Younger player/Prospect that could be the main piece in a deal for Kadri, 1-for-1 or with a cap dump:
Hage (Really doubtful)
Danielson (makes the most sense to me)
Bear?
Brandsegg-Nygard?
Bichsel?
Not 'A' prospects, would probably come with a pick attached:
Hemming
Cal Ritchie
Ryabkin
Cerrato
Nadeau?
Beaudoin
Benak
Stramel
Heidt
Ryder Ritchie
Kasper
Plante
Brindley

I feel like it will end up being Kadri for Nadeau + Kotkaniemi + 1st

Could make it easy.
Kadri for Hage 1 for 1
If not throw in Pospisil and Anderson to balance it out
Coleman for O’Reilly
Weegar for Nate Danielson and Det 1st 2026

Its been stated numerous times Hage ain't going anywhere. The other 2 you've got seem possible

In that case I wonder about Kapanen. Swap him out with Hage. Not really enough room for Suzuki Hage and Kapanen in the top 6 long term

It's hard to say.
If I were GM and could get Misa who was 2nd overall last year, plus another top 10 pick, for my 1st pick (probably top 3), and an aging asset, I think I would do it.
I personally like Misa more than Stenberg and Verhoeff, and while I think McKenna might have a higher ceiling than Misa, playing center tips the scale toward Misa for me.
I think Calgary would likely have to add something.
