I’m struggling to think of anything quite in the same vein. Maybe True Romance? It’s just so different I find it hard to compare to a movie like witness.

A History of Violence might be close? It sorta migrates from genre to genre as well: small-town drama becomes crime thriller becomes existential tragedy. Same sorta thing where the film is allowed to become something else without announcing it.
Edit. Oops, mea culpa, different director! For some reason I was thinking Peter Weir did both.

I watched Boogie Nights, what a fantastic film I can't believe I haven't seen it before. Everything about this movie is pitch perfect right from the beginning. This Paul Thomas Anderson fellow might have a bright future, this is only the 3rd film of his I've seen and I've loved each one.

It's one of those movies that takes you on a cinematic journey where once it's done you just sit there trying to take in what you just witnessed and wishing you could watch it again for the first time. The 90s had a few movies about the rise and fall of people from Casino, Goodfellas from Scorsese to Showgirls and 54 but I think Boogie Nights might be favorite.

Yes, I liked that a lot more for some reason. Ridiculous and beautiful and felt like cramming a 8 year TV series into a movie. I could not tell you who the lead was.
What platform is it on?

I haven't seen Magnolia since the early 2000s, and I didn't care for it when it came out. I don't remember if I outright hated it or just couldn't get into it, but I really ought to give it another go

Watched Greenland 2 - Migration last night. Really enjoyed the first film, but this one is just lacking in a lot of areas. They caved to the thought of making a sequel just to get it out there for the cash. 5/10

Was in University when that came out. We somehow got a premiere screening access, with a bunch of free swag. It may have been from my Molson sponsorship or something. Anyway, ya, it was a pretty fun event, and we all loved the movie. One of my favourite sound tracks ever. Listen to it often.

I watched Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow a few nights back. Thought it was good pulpy fun and all the digital manipulation made it look like a comic book or a live-action Fleischer cartoon. This was a full-on CGI assault that actually worked.

I actually watched Boogie Nights last night with my german buddy who had never seen it. He was like, this is a masterpiece. He's in this, that guy is in this? Also agreed Inglorious Basterds was Taratino's best. Apparently the accents were perfect. The different tones depending where you were from in Germany were unreal. I think Waltz is the best actor living. Til Schweiger was a heartthrob nice guy in German movies and his murderous change was quite shocking.
We tried to find Run Lola Run anywhere but could not, even on his dodgy box. Great movie. If anyone knows where to get it.

Similar techniques were used on "Speed Racer", except the color palate is turned way up. It was actually pretty solid.
