Further into the story it mentions that the cheating is what gave people pause to make him first ballot. He'll get in eventually but can wait a bit

I don't even buy that narrative. It's an excuse they'll run with, but it's Kraft continuing the blackball campaign against him.

He's got SIX super bowl rings. Plus the other two if you want to include his time as DC.

Anyone see the Cooper Kupp story on the Athletic? JFC...

Quote:
After the 2024 season, rather than trying to negotiate a salary reduction with the former All-Pro, the Rams had unceremoniously cut ties, urging him to retire. As Kupp approached free agency, sources say, he came to believe that some L.A. officials had cautioned potential suitors against paying him anything more than the veteran minimum, suggesting that age and an accumulation of injuries had provoked a steep decline. “When it ended with the Rams,” Kupp told me earlier this month, “we weren’t in a good place.”
Quote:
When the Seahawks and Rams met in Week 16 at Lumen Field, Kupp had a costly fumble after he caught a pass and worked his way inside the red zone in the final minute of the first half, ending Seattle’s chances of getting points before the break. As Rams and Seahawks assistants headed to a shared elevator to go to their respective locker rooms at halftime, a witness said Rams coaches were discussing the fumble, per Silver. When one Rams coach asked what Seahawks player was responsible, another said Kupp, and the coach who asked the question snickered. That reportedly led to a fiery response from Seahawks outside linebacker coach Chris Patridge, who was then yelled at by Rams pass rush coordinator Drew Wilkens. Seahawks coaches had to hold Partridge back to avoid a potential fracas.

Word of that altercation reportedly got back to the Seahawks’ locker room and served as a motivating factor for Seattle as it stormed back from down 16 points in the fourth quarter to pull out a 38-37 overtime win.

Come on. This is stupid and petty by the voters. If he isn’t first ballot, nobody is.

Utterly ridiculous.

So egregious that my guess is the HOF will be pressured into releasing the names of those who voted for and against to save the hit to its own credibility.

I think I understand why they didn’t vote him in, but I don’t think it’s right. I realize he’s not a likable guy and had a video scandal, but he’s statistically the greatest head coach of all time.

Who’s “they” and why? It’s basically media members from each team or NFL city and then national media members from the ESPNs of the world.

If it’s fellow coaches or league executives, sure maybe the revenge angle for those who hold a grudge. But supposed big J journalists, who are supposed to be impartial, and or the voice and conduit to the fans of their teams (at least that’s what they purport to be when #### hits the fan and hide behind that)?

So, those votes against him a mix of jilted media members who Belichek never cuddled up to or was curt to over his years or beat the team they covered regularly(possibly), along with a handful of brave souls using their platform and power, to make a point and be defending their definition of football integrity on behalf of everyone else.

More I read on this tonight the more I think the HOF will have to release the list.

Todd Monken to be the next Cleveland HC and try to lead the factory of sadness out of the abyss they exist in.

Monken had been expected to follow Harbaugh to NY as his OC.

I’m worried that will cause Schwartz to leave Cleveland. The defence is solid.

A LOT of blowback coming out of this nonsense and rightfully so.

Honestly really devalues the whole process.

8 SB rings, 3rd all time for wins as a HC, but not good enough to be in the hall?

OK then.

Sign stealing happened before Bill got caught and it's still going on at all levels of football. To hold him out because of that is ridiculous.

Bills moving on from Bobby Babich which thankfully means a new DC.
