I don't know about Sam Cosentino. The guy is a baseball player that in the middle of his career went from MLB PBP and sideline reporter to broadcasting OHL in 98 and now he's some sort of draft expert? Is there a less credible junior hockey talent evaluator that gets paid to do it?

Whoa, the Oilers beat another tired team on a back to back with their backup goalie in net? That's quite an accomplishment. Cup parade back on!

The Oilers should be resting McDavid in preparation for the Olympics. It would be the right thing to do. Especially considering his performance at the nations cup where he was invisible / non-factor apart from receiving a pass in front of the net. Also considering the political climate something something it would be dare I say unpatriotic not to? Come on Edmonton, do the right thing for once.

I recognize that this article is a snapshot in time, but would the latest Bakersfield player be considered above most on this list without oiler stink and needing propaganda/validation for “4d lEveL bOwMAn tHInKInG?” At any time?
There are 20 players on this list that I would trade straight across “1 for 1” for the oilers player. And that’s without thinking!

He’s gotta rest up for more European pickleball losing.

Hmmm…not really wanting to go for the trifecta of posts in a row but it’s just that e=ng so much and so often that it’s hard to avoid.
Rogers Oilersnet looking at who could replace Brayden Point. #1 on the list? Noted crease crawler Hyman.
There are some great options on the list but one dimensional players should be well down the list.
No good!

Why isn't Knobby coaching team Canada? He would put McDavid, MacKinnon and Crosby out there together for 29 minutes!

He was an early favorite to win the calder on bet365, he'll probably get 2 votes from the oilers media though.

I'm confused about it though. To make the list you have to be under 23 which is fine. You have to then be "in an NHL system". WTF does that mean? It can't be "on the NHL roster" because it includes Hagens and Cristall. It must mean less than a season because there's no Celebrini.
So no Parekh? No Reschny (who is outpointing Hagens)?

1. You had to have been drafted (or signed) and with 0 NHL games played (so, no Parekh, no Demidov, etc)
2. The list was made this summer, so before Reschny had played a single NCAA game, and before Howard or Fowler had played in the NHL.

The reality is they are a few years away from the walls crashing in with all their key players in their 30's and the down cycle will hit that market hard. Their prospect base is so barren that it's going to require likely a scorched earth rebuild.

I agree.
But their last window of any leverage is gone this coming summer.
From there with the way agents are handling things it will be a steady move to McDavid picking his spot 100% and all other teams out of the negotiation.

You're right McDavid is 100% picking his next team, and it's going to be Vegas.
