Do people who regularly go away on business actually set up automatic email replies instead of just continuing to conduct regular business and correspondences? We have people who are regularly out in the field but they always reply as usual and we won't know if they are replying from their office, the bathroom or a wellsite in NEBC.

Depends on the situation and your upcoming commitments for the time you are away.
At least for me it is...

Yes. If you’re travelling half way across the globe you’re not going to communicate in real time. Out of office, responses will be delayed was a pretty standard message for me.

Here’s one. I cancelled our home and auto insurance and got a big refund of the premiums back on the credit card cause we paid annually. This happened after our cc statement was posted, and it’s still asking for that amount to be paid, but the refund from the insurance almost nulled out the bill. I assume we just ignore the statement amount and pay outstanding balance, since the refund should have acted like something of a payment almost even if the online statement still shows the pre-refund amount.

But isn’t the refund issued and put onto the card after the statement, but before the due date in that case? Like you can just pay the rest and the balance is at zero before the due date?
Or maybe you’re saying the cancellation and refund takes you past the due date? In which case, I’d try calling the card company.

I already have the statement and date owing - eg) $2500 by Feb 15 and then the insurance company subsequently refunded $2400 to the credit card, so the current credit balance is $100, but amount owing still shows as $2500 in the little “pay this amount by…” window.
I just found it a little odd. I guess the credit card company just doesn’t bother to update it to, “you owe $100 by February 15” after the statement has already been generated.
I am probably overthinking it and I’ll just pay the $100.

It is probably not considered a 'payment' but the amount owing will be reduced. To be safe , make the minimum payment.

Has anyone else ever had “hells itch” before? I used to get it in my teens / twenties if I got a minor to moderate sun burn and the itch a few days later was absolute insanity, literally enough to drive you crazy.
Well since I’ve been away on vacation I’ve managed to score a pretty nice tan with no itch at all with any of the sun exposure I’ve had.

Yes, happened to me this summer after a real bad sunburn. Probably itched for at least two weeks. Can confirm it was awful

Two weeks?? The itch had to have slowed down over that time I hope. I think the longest I’ve had it was a few days of misery and a couple easier ones. The itch could literally make you go crazy eh?

Well, an interesting thing developed and my new insurance got posted which brought the balance back up, we’ll say to $2500 again. I ended up chatting with the live agent. Basically refunds are not considered payments if the actual balance by the due date is not zero. So, I could have paid the $100 and if nothing else got posted, it would have been okay. But since the new insurance company just posted payment, I am back to paying the amount due.

I think it's fairly likely the rep is wrong about that, although if it's a one-time deal it might be better to pay the $2500 vs potential interest.
I use my Amex (credit card not charge card) for business purposes and generate lots of purchases and refunds every month. They definitely count the refunds toward the amount due every month.
