I do love the trope of Captains having a 'catchphrase.'

Normally its for when to get the ship going but in rewatching a bit of the Orville..."Lets try not to screw this up!"

Brilliant stuff.

If I was the head of this current crop of Starfleet Academy I'd make the current motto..."Lets keep the dumb####ery to a minimum today shall we?"

Haven't watched an episode since that god awful singing episode. That just threw the fact it was NüTrek right into my face and I lost all interest.

So I decided to revisit the final season of Picard over the last few days, and I'm really enjoying it. When it first aired I remember there were the usual amount of nit-picks and complaints in here. But honestly, compared to the pure garbage of shows like Starfleet Academy and Discovery, I'd say these 10 episodes are pretty damn solid.

The old school Trek-style adventure vibe is a lot of fun. Most of the actors give terrific performances, and the Jerry Goldsmith-ey score hits my nostalgia buttons in the best way. Not to mention the ship designs are soooooo much better. Sure, it's not top tier Trek, but I think it's a fun and worthy send-off for the TNG crew.

Picard S3 I recall liking because it was exactly what that show was supposed to be. A Swan Song to the TNG crew.

S1 and S2 were hot garbage. They even managed to screw up Q. Q! The best character there is! You have to put in effort to screw up Q.

The good thing about S3 is that you don't even need to watch seasons 1 or 2 to follow along. S3 is essentially the TNG movie that Nemesis should have been.

I also just noticed that Stephen Colbert is the voice of the station.

Precisely. It was pure, unadulterated and unapologetic fan service and thats all we wanted.

I havent seen E3 yet, but...yeah...'Breaker High in Space' seems pretty accurate thus far.

And they made the most annoying flat characters on the show in Jett or Tig or whatever and the half Jem'Hadar yeller screamer a couple on this show.


And good Captains like Kirk, Picard and Sisko would have fired miss lazy lounge around in bar feet in meetings out the airlock.


Literally she is the worst character and most annoying and distracting person on this show.

Who cast this show and where can we hide their dismembered bodies?

Right now Tig Notaro and Robert Picardo are doing all of the heavy lifting. Picardo doesnt surprise me, I've always liked him, I never really liked Notaro but her dry wit and humour is essentially the only thing keeping this train chugging. The rest of the cast are vapid morons and I am learning to loathe Holly Hunter and Gina Yashire more and more by the day.

Also...the holographic Cadet is quite possibly the dumbest idea in all of Trek. I loathe the concept, I loathe the character because she looks and acts like Minnie Mouse ate Mickey Mouse and was then Lobotomized. Why is she in Starfleet Academy when she is hardly even qualified to ask me "if I want fries with that"?

Re-animate the crew of the Enterprise D and give them all Professor positions at Starfleet Academy.

Worf will bitchslap that peaceful Klingon loser Jaycee or whatever the hell his name is into the next century. There will be no Glory for his house.

Crusher and The Doctor will just be nagging each other constantly, which might actually be fun.

Geordie will be slowly leaning towards suicide because he realizes instantly that all of these children are paste-eating morons who cant balance a Warp Core or really...fix anything and that Starfleet is doomed.

Picard will be the Headmaster and teach Philosophy.

Data will refuse to participate.

Hell...get Q in there! He can teach Galactic Relativity...and Boxing.

And Riker? He's going to lose 50 pounds just from the sheer physical exertion of administering the requisite swirlies, wedgies and shoving losers into lockers.

This episode was bad and it should feel bad for being so bad. WTF even is this? And someone teach Holly Hunter how to speak. ENUNCIATE!!! Take the marbles out of her mouth.

Yeah. This is actually getting beyond annoying. I really need this show to do something with this because otherwise its just a weird quirk.

Can we resurrect Captain Jellico because he'd shut this lounging #### down real fast.
