That’ll be a good show. I imagine they’ll consider moving it to a different venue if ticket sales allow.

And I hope they do as the legion is terrible. Every year it seems to have the absolute worst sound out of any venue.

I think Memorial Hall at #1 Legion can hold 300+ people, and they put some bands upstairs too.

My wife night tickets to this, and I hope the weather is nice. I was surprised at the cost, but I suppose that’s just the price of shows now.

Its not meant to be normal pricing. Its an annual concert series that spruce meadows started last year called "live and intimate". The idea is a small venue with high prices for big acts. Last year I was gonna grab tickets to Metric there but they were super pricey considering you can see them for much cheaper or even free on any given year.

Cool idea and im glad theyre finding success with it. Not sure bigger bands would enjoy playing the shows that much with a small, higher paying (boring) crowd. Might check one of these two shows out if people are getting rid of tickets closer to. Wont pay $165 -$280 to stand in a tent, though.

Might be tough as they aren't sending tickets until 72 hours before the show it says.

Did anyone go to any of the Spruce Meadows concerts last year? I was tempted to see City and Colour but was put off by the $300 ticket price- they sold some at half price I think Father's Day weekend but at that point I was set on not going. I think the idea is great, and if it was a band I really wanted to see I'd for sure go.

A$AP Rocky is coming to Calgary on July 4, which should be pretty cool if you're into that kind of thing.

Bad Religion at the Dome February 1st. Can't wait. Also can't believe they're opening for The Offspring. I really like The Offspring, but Bad Religion is orders of magnitude better. I guess if they play Pretty Fly for a White Guy that'd be awesome because that song is super duper hilarious and exactly what I want at a punk show.

Got excited for a moment, thought Bad Religion were playing their own show.

Offspring are horrendous.

Are The Offspring riding a popularity resurgence? Last I saw them was the Cowboys tent for Stampede some years back. Didn't realize they were still big enough to do the 'Dome.

But yeah I'd consider this just for Bad Religion.

Unless I missed a post about this recently, the wife and I are going to Jimmy Eat World at the Spruce Meadows Live and Intimate show. Never seen them before. Pretty excited.

Conspiracy of One is a peak rock album, up there with the best from that 90s-2000s era of rock music. Ixnay and Americana have some anthems of those times on them as well.

Offspring are a band that mainly garnered its fame off its cheesier singles specifically but behind those are some pretty solid albums. They've been selling out venues on their NA tour so far.

Also frontman Dexter got an Ph.D. in molecular biology, pilots planes and owns a hotsauce company on the side of pumping out regular albums and that's hard not to respect given that he could've easily rested on the laurels of his music career.

The young drummer they have now rips too.

I know I didn't just read someone say an Offspring album is a "peak rock album". I guess if you're 12 maybe. Not even a huge Bad Religion fan but they clear the Offspring by a wide margin.

I think some of the earliest albums are kind of cool but I don’t even know if Conspiracy of One is a top 50 rock album the year it was released, let alone sitting around the peak of the decades before and after it.

Is there a single interesting song on there that isn’t just a bad rehash of a song they had already done better before that?

Not really my taste though so I don’t know. Don’t mean to yuck anyone’s yum. I tried to go through the whole discography and gave up after Splinter but I can’t imagine it got better after basically just getting worse after their third album.

Thankfully I was young enough during their peak that getting their albums for Christmas was good enough (thanks Mom!). Couldn't imagine paying for anything after Ixnay. Like a lot of bands now they are feasting on the nostalgia trip their former 12-20 year old fans can take now that they are 30-50 and have kids or whatever. Good for them though, I don't think they are a really hateable band or anything, they just aren't that good.
