lmao 9-14 years? Eight year abyss from Leburn? 14 years is a slow walk, fall down, get a concussion, spend seven years in a hospital, three years of rehab, two more in a wheelchair then finally getting on their feet. Rebuilds aren't easy, they certainly aren't fast, but 14 years is absolutely insanity. If the Flames do a slow walk Zayne Parekh will 33

Also I'm not against keeping vets around, I think it's a fine idea... but you can find good serviceable vets for young players rather easily. People are already raving about Zach Whitecloud and he was acquired rather easily. Veterans around during a rebuild isnt' something to worry about too much.

Chicago has tanked the right way. They will add in UFA only when the time is right.

You totally ignored his point and just listed players 30 years and older without understanding why you were listing them. You proved his point.

All ending soon. You need veteran players, but you sign them to short term contracts that are over when you contend.

The market is hot for Coleman and Coleman is on IR. Of course it's quiet now, until he plays a game.

I think it’s quiet because we waited too long and now other teams are selling so the other teams are reviewing all the markets

Nope. It's totally because everyone has moved on after the Flames waited too long.

There's no way to spin it so that the injury is Conroy's fault… unless you're that one guy who thinks nobody should ever be allowed to play if there's a chance you could be trading them. Therefore, it can't be on account of the injury.

So the Flames can only trade when there are no other teams selling? I guess trade deadlines work differently this season

They're using Lord of the Flies rules. You're only allowed to make a trade when you're holding the conch.

The reason their vets mostly have 1 or 2 years remaining, or are UFAs, is because CHI has been rebuilding longer, and the vet contracts are coming due.

But they have not been reluctant to have vets on the team, and next year they will have the same problem people are suggesting the Flames will have if they trade their vets, CHI is $30M shy of the floor for 26/27 with 5 forwards and 2 D t sign.

In other words, they are going to have to sign a bunch more vets.

If you think that. you might want to look a litte closer at their cap situation for 26/27

Could anyone elaborate on that quote? "Things have quieted down, but not because of lack of willingness."

They want to trade players but things have quieted down for one reason or an another. Could be NTCs or interest from teams

I 'think' this is a fairly complete list of the contracts conroy has signed. There are only 4 contracts longer than 3 years. 3 of these are young players that should peak within a few years. The 4th is Sharangovich.

Mikael Backlund — 2 years × $4.50M AAV
Dan Vladar — 2 years × $2.20M AAV
Kevin Rooney — 1 year × $1.30M AAV
Dryden Hunt — 2 years × $0.825M AAV
Brayden Pachal — 2 years × $1.1875M AAV

Yegor Sharangovich — 5 years × $5.75M AAV
Ryan Lomberg — 2 years × $2.00M AAV
Adam Klapka — 2 years × $0.775M AAV
Justin Kirkland — 1 year × $0.775M AAV
Jake Bean — 2 years × $1.75M AAV
Yan Kuznetsov — 2 years × $0.775M AAV

Matt Coronato — 7 years × $6.50M AAV
Kevin Bahl — 6 years × $5.35M AAV
Morgan Frost — 2 years × $4.375M AAV
Joel Hanley — 2 years × $1.75M AAV
Clark Bishop — 1 year × $0.775M AAV
Devin Cooley — 2 years × $1.35M AAV

Connor Zary — 3 years × $3.775M AAV
Martin Pospisil — 3 years × $2.50M AAV
Dustin Wolf — 7 years × $7.50M AAV

Any other long term contracts are signed by Trevliving. They are Huberdeau, Kadri and Weeger. Huberdeau has been discussed to death. Kadri is a possibility to trade. Weeger seems to be a good contract so far.

So, based on the discussions above there are 2 contracts that fall into the "issues" that people are discussing - Huberdeau and Sharagovich. Not that bad. The first is what it is, the second could go either way, he may be part of the solution or part of the problem.

Again, for expectations, I don't see this being to bad and Conroy seems to be executing the way most people are hoping a good GM would.
