After watching Reschny in the WJC, I can see him turning out to be a Bergeron type center. He's not going to win scoring titles and exceeding 30 goals in a season could happen but won't be a regular thing for him, but his IQ and vision will make him an indisputable number 1 C, who when paired with elite wingers will consistently make them one of the best lines in the NHL.

I do love that he was one of the youngest guys on the team but got the call to take important draws, play pp1, and got moved up to the top line when Martin got injured. If he tops out as a 2, he’s gonna be a heck of a 2

NHL needs a team named Mighty Hamsters. That'll speed up the US visa processing.

Bergeron is headed to the HOF. I hope your eyesight is correct.

It's been 5 whole days since the Flames made their last trade, what's taking them so long.

I'd imagine it's going to be a snoozefest in terms of treades (leaguewide, not just Flames) until after the Olympics, but those 10 days before the deadline could be a lot of fun.

Then again, I was once naive enough to believe that the NHL changing the draft format would result in more trades, not GMs sitting on their damn hands, so what do I know.

This is also the first year that the NHL will have a salary cap in the playoffs. Teams are unable to take on a big salary at the deadline like in year's past if it means putting an over-the-cap roster on the ice, they would instead have to sit other players to get under the cap. I'm not sure how much of a damper this will put on bigger salary trades at the deadline, time will tell

I am thinking the opposite. For players that are not at the Olympics, I would want to acquire them BEFORE the O's so that the player can use the break to settle in with the new team. It's a perfect scenario for acquiring a player.

For players going to the games, the risk of injury changes that, of course.

Yeah, I could see the first week of February being like a mini-trade deadline.

I am watching very closely for anything to happen between CGY and Buffalo. Whitecloud, Pachal, and Hanley would all be great fits for that Sabres team if they want to be a legit force in the playoffs. They've been riding their top-four way too hard.

Just trade Coleman.

Coleman Coleman Coleman should be pretty much the exclusive concern right now for Conroy.

Whitecloud for Wahlberg

Unless they'd rather give us Helenius

Does Kadri count as a star? I'm guessing it's more regarding someone like Robertson, or Thomas, but that would be pretty amazing if the Flames could get their hands on Nikishin.

How about Huberdeau hahahahaha

Seriously speaking I think the canes would be insane to trade him, he’s going to be a hell of a player.

I am really curious to see what Buffalo does at the deadline. It's a boring move, but a late round pick for a Hanley/Pachal type to shore up their D depth is probably their best move.

Maybe its years of Buffalo=Bad bias, but I just don't see a Kadri, Stamkos, Coleman, etc... type pushing them over the top.

That said, that fanbase desperately needs some playoff hockey. Maybe they should be going more for Whitecloud/Kadri level players. Make a run. Re-energize their franchise.

I’d do a Kadri for Wright + 1st in 26 swap. Seattle is no tax and a nice city
