This venture into hotel development is quite interesting for Truman, and exciting to watch. I hope it it pays off; I've been saying for years that central Calgary is underserved by not just certain types/levels of hospitality providers... but just hotels overall in general. Truman now has three hotel projects going on across the city, likely all within a quick walk from each other. Awesome stuff.
There's definitely a Ship & Anchor guy. I'm not that guy. I've been probably 20 times and every single time I marvel at how much people like it because I just don't see it. It's meh.
I will say I do enjoy that people love it and it's special to them, so would be a shame for it to go away. Honestly doubt there's anything to worry about right now, though.
#### the Ship and Anchor
I remember a bartender in the early 90’s wouldn’t serve me and some buddies because we were in the army.
He deserved getting that pint glass thrown at his head.

Nowadays your dumb ass would probably post on tik-tok about how you got that beer and the place would have to get heavy fines / shut down.
Yeah, but back then the consequences were merely being told to finish your beer, pay your tab, tip your server and politely vacate.
Nowadays puritans like your dumb ass would wind up picketing outside with signs about how The Great Satan is poisoning our youth or some other equally stupid bull####.

Calgary had a recent massive hotel build-out... and it wasn't enough. On to massive hotel build-out part II!
I blame YT. Channels come for Banff, and they're stunned at how nice Calgary is.

I'm a fan of the Ship.
It's always busy; music isn't loud; people are generally cordial and open to talking to strangers. There are attractive people around. Generally an older crowd.
compare that to National/Craft which is generally full of dude-bros and plastic 20 somethings from Silverado.

It was Gooey Stevens. My buddy when I was in engineering, was dating a girl who did amateur night at Misty's. There were a lot of loser engineers in attendance that night. Not sure what smelled worse.

I think the adjective is understood without being stated...

Oh yeah, the doosh factor of Craft's clientele is wild. Even the one in Southcentre Mall is filled with the biggest clowns. Guys like that love mid food plated to look delicious, though, so I guess it's a great spot for them.
