All of this nonsense sounds like Canmore wants to build a Wall and is going to demand that Calgary pay for it...

Are most of us born and raised Calgarians? I am. Don't know about you guys, but I've seen some changes around here. Lost biking trails, places we'd off-road, places we'd party when teens, seen the city frickin quadruple. But I don't know a single Calgarian who begrudges these changes or expects newcomers like Fuzz to bear any responsibility for these changes. We welcome people here because we're nice and know change is inevitable. Canmorites? Absolute idiots who are jerks AND think it's the fault of specific individuals that Canmore in 2026 is different from Canmore in 1994 and, oh boy, they're happy to tell you all about it while foaming at the mouth.

Lol, buncha tits.

You haven’t heard people in Marda Loop bitch about change. I swear they’re nostalgic about the vacuum cleaner store where the Shoppers is. They make exceptions for their new homes where bungalows used to be of course.

Well yeah. Long-time residents of community [X] liked things better in the past when there weren't so many people. News at 11.

It's always kind of funny when you read/hear this, and then go and check out the community population statistics to only find out the current population is LESS than "the good ol' days".

TBF, the population may be smaller due to ordinary residents selling their property. But the day to day population, esp. on the weekends, is probably bigger. If their residential population is 75% of what it was, but there are condo complexes owned 95% by Calgary residents, there are probably way more people there.

Sorry, some confusion here. I was replying to the comments about Calgarians complaining about Calgary being bigger now. Not Canmore. We got sidetracked...

The Pass has about 7000 full time residents, and 2400 part time residents. Over 25%.

Karpat isn't paid to be on Fair Future. I have no stake in anything any developer does. We're a group of like-minded people pushing back (and winning) against a tax. I've put in a few thousand bucks. A bunch of my friends have, too. It is grassroots. When they were first posting about this on Facebook I even thought it was a scam. I had to talk to them because it was so grassroots as to seem a little po-dunk for my tastes. But, sure enough, it's just normal average Joes that make up this group. We have little meetings and we're basically a group of pissed off dorks that feel the Town and its people were pushing an unfair tax onto our group and scapegoating us for problems of their own creation.

And...we...keep...winning. Because we're right.

Are you equally annoyed that the Town is using taxpayer dollars to pay over a million in legal and administrative fees as well as hiring a PR firm to smear second homeowners and promote "unicorns" (aka old white people who are virtuous just because they've lived in Canmore longer than others)? That's what I find ridiculous. I think individuals can spend their own money on pushing back against a government who is spending others' money to penalize one group and elevate another.

But, yeah. FFC is grassroots. I know because I'm a member and I know the other members. It's as grassroots as it gets. We - as a group - pinch our pennies like crazy so we don't have to do another cash call and most of our efforts involve letter writing and correcting misinformation spread by the Town and Canmorons online and in the RMO and Herald. We aren't funded by anybody but ourselves.

It's either this, or spend my Friday agonizing over trades that might take the Flames from sucky to mediocre, but that ground seems to be fully covered.

Revenues? Ya, we'll have some sponsored forums, and the rest will be ads that you have to scroll around your screen to find the x button, and the x button also takes you to the ad. It's, like, foolproof.

Just surround the town with the same material they made the Policeman's Creek boardwalk out of. Once it ices up nothing's getting in without dying.
