mine was a high school nickname as well ... but oddly enough it was an insult and one that drove a wedge between me and some friends at the time. Just came to mind when I signed up for that old Slam hockey message board in the mid 90's.

Funny to take an insult and make it into a decade plus web persona but there it is.

Take a wild guess.....

Actually it was just a name I found vaguely amusing and childish. No Freudian insights here.

Back in highschool I would wear at least one piece of clothing that had the colour green in it, so my friends started to call me Kermit, that and I could do a decent impression (Uhm.. Big Bird). So one day someone wanted to play some game on Yahoo! and I needed a username. I came up with kermitology (being the study of Kermit the Frog) and it's basically the username I use. I don't think there are many other places you'll find a kermitology on the web.

Oh and it's a lower-case k.

MYK - 2/3 are my initials, the Y is just to shorten my name - been using it as a online name since grade 3. I squatted on the MYK.com website for the longest time until about 3 years ago I was living in Europe for 6 months and forgot to renew so they sold it

I use the MYKxxx and xxxMYK format for alot of names so i can distinguish between sites and who I give my email address to.

100% proud to be from Alberta so

harmless high school crap when you look back on it, ... had pretty steamed at the time though. Found new friends.

I have had the nickname Gordo since 87 and to this day there are people who have no clue what my real name is. I don't introduce myself as Gordo but that is the only name I am ususally called by friends. 67 is because I had a 1967 Mustang in high school.

Mine is just a nickname, no one could say my last name ---- it always came out as "Hoot" from Grade 1 til now.

And it has always just kinda stuck with my group of friends because its easy and when I hear someone yell HOOT I can assume they are only talking to me. Unlike some I am not trying to hide

I actually use a different nick every place else I have a presence.

I just wanted something kind of fan-based, but not something that would be made obsolete by a trade or anything like that.

And I don't even own a bobblehead (and my name isn't Bob).

Dictionary.com sites it as:

13.all the rage, widely popular or in style.

Sort of an observation/tribute, I guess, of the surge in popularity that the Flames went through during the run of '04. I found this board around that time, although I didnt sign up til 06, and the rest is history.

The season I before I got season tickets to the Flames, I went to two games. None other than Jeff Shantz scored goals in both of those games (I believe they were his only two goals of the season).
The next year I had season tickets and in the first pre season game who should score? None other than Jeff Shantz. So as I would be attending the next 41 games it was safe to assume that Jeff was on the verge of his first ever 40+ goal season...untill he was traded to Colorado in the trade that brought us Drury and Yelle.

Damnit!
Ever since I have been a staunch supporter of the movement to Bring_Back_Shantz

Mine was because i was lurking around the site for a while, then one night early last season i got sick of all the "tanguay sucks", "trade tanguay", "tanguay's overpaid" threads, so this was the most straight-forward way i could think of to remind people from then on that he didn't actually lose all his skill when he left Colorado.

I've always wanted these rims back in the 90's when I got my first car.

So I decided to use the brand name. The best thing about it is, the name is always available on any site I sign up on.

Pretty self-explanatory to most I'm sure, but for those not familiar with Douglas Adams' Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy series, Ford is one of the main characters from that series of books. I also go by rinkrat and saskamoose on some other sites ... I tend to use saskamoose for the name of my fantasy hockey teams. Sometimes I'll use the sasakamoose variant as well. There, you should be able to track me around in cyber space with all that info.

Thats crazy I use to have pretty similar ones on my truck back in the day. But they were the Niche brand. I was actually debating between the Neeper & Niche.
