Whitecloud has been really good. I don’t think he’s made a bad play in his first two games as a Flame. He’s just so damn steady. Good gaps, good reads, every pass is tape to tape, plays hard and plays the right way.
If he gets traded, he should fetch a decent return. If he isn’t moved, I don’t mind that either. Seems like a really good dude and an easy guy to cheer for

I thought they came out hard tonight. The 4th line I felt was very engaged. Was great to see Pospisil out tonight - what a hit he made.
Team sagged as the game wore on, and it is not difficult to imagine why. I do think as the games roll by, that there will be a little less gumption in their games, especially by the vets. It is what it is. The kids will still play hard. There is always something of interest to keep my watching - lots of storylines, even if the outcome is a loss.
This will be the worst season of the rebuild - no wins, and not many exciting prospects to watch. There still are good young players on this team, I still want to to see Backlund round the corner of his career here and appreciate him, and we do get to see some of the future stars/support players evolving.
Likely to still be on the team in 3 seasons:
Wolf
Parekh (will be back soon)
Gridin (if he sticks)
Coronato
Zary (Iffy)
Pospisil if he isn't traded
Brzustewicz
Kuznetsov
Klapka
Still enjoy watching these kids mature and evolve in the NHL. It will be a tough stretch from now until the end of the season with many more losses than wins, but we all know this is the right direction, as unpalatable as it may be. Just enjoy what you can enjoy - there are always some bright lights in the night sky, right?

Gridin played 11 minutes and less time than Lomberg. Was he really that bad, Huska?

Thankfully we're keeping the starts down for the gnarly cali bruh.

Yeah it’s sad but if they really want to tank they just need to play Wolf more. He’s near the bottom of the league in goals saved above expected. More middle of the pack actually but still much worse than Cooley

That was sad. The stretch in the 2nd when the Flames dominated offensive zone possession for 2 minutes and could only generate missed point shots sums up our inept offensive. Is going to be a long 32 games to go.

Wolf has become the new tank commander. Keep playing him. Not very good this year. I sure hope it’s a one off bad year because it’s a long contract.

It's a good thing he's playing bad this season for the tank but also kind of out of left field for him as he's been pretty consistent since they acquired him. I would be fine if he's this bad next season as well quite frankly.

Not sure there is much to complain about with Gridin's usage.
He's playing in the top six and on powerplay one.
Looked like he missed a shift or two in the second period. Could have been an instructional break or a problem with equipment for all we know. He doesn't miss those two second period shifts and he's right in the glut.

First goal was a deflection. Last goal a partial breakaway.
He will be more than fine with a better team in front of him.

I think he is minus 26 now. Tries hard, but not always smartly.

Went to my first game of the season last night, and wow was that a stunningly boring game, i can only remember the Flames having one scoring chance where the rink got loud. If not for the fluke goal in the waning seconds of the second period that could have been the easiest shutout of Skinners career.
But also, on with the tank

Whitecloud is a solid 4/5 guy. He fills some of the Andersson gap for sure.
But none of the offensive gap.
The Flames were a challenged team offensively before, but now they've lost their best dman for PP, transition and shots from the point.
Don't think they score enough to stay anywhere near .500 the rest of the way.

Yeah, so please trade the older assets for picks and prospects and draft a couple future superstar players and give a hope for our young players. At the moment there is not much hope that team become a winner.

I think equipment (sorry wasn't watching on TV so maybe discussed), he lined up for a faceoff, fiddled with his helmet and left the playing surface and Klapka jumped over the boards to take his spot and did so for 2 rotations through the lines from what I saw

Damn Huska. Coach probably messed with his helmet because he hates rookies so much.
