You live in BC. Your province is one of the biggest reasons we’re so vulnerable to Trump’s America.
Vulnerable?
I thought we loved what Trump is doing and should be jumping in to join?
You're pretending you see the harm of Trump's American now after applauding it this whole time?
Regarding BC, I've alway been critical of the self imposed own goals we've placed on our resources and economy. I was critical of the Trudeau government as well and that's why I was so relieved to get a PM who can cut through the BS and get to work pragmatically.
I just never needed to go full on reactionary the other way and become a far right, wing nut.
Ready to throw away my sovereignty, democracy and people's human rights.
There's a world in between where most of us live; where acknowledging dependancy on America has ended, where we need to do more for our own country and economy; but we don't need to be mouth breathing MAGA's.
I live in that space, Carney lives in that space, sounds like you might actually too if you really understand we've vulnerable to Trump's America.
It's not too late to back away from the cliff and come back to reality.
You don't have to keep being a mouthpiece for a moronic hive-mind.
We'll accept you back into adult discussions; I promise.
We set ourself up to be America’s bitch many years ago. We put ourself in this position. All this resource power, and we haven’t done a ####ing thing with it (relatively speaking).
Hate to say it but Trump has been exactly what this nation needed to get off the pot and start getting to work in utilizing our natural resources and skilled people to reduce our dependance on the USA which will in turn strengthen the country and make it stronger and better for future generations. I feel good that Carney isn't only putting the wheels in motion but he's clearly one of the smartest men in any room he's in and seems to be genuinely passionate about making the Canada better. It's such a refreshing change from Trudeau, Singh, and the Dumb & Dumber CP leaders that have been trotted out over the last decade plus who all played a role in paralyzing and weakening this country.

I've been insulting Trump since the mid 2010s. The receipts are all there.
Just because I'm not on the trans-wagon, doesn't mean I'm a Trump bootlicker.

LOL! Amazing post, 10/10 believe you are not in the magasphere.
Just a reminder that in 2024 Canada set its historical record for most oil exported.
It would be better if we could export more oil and gas. But this notion that the we’ve strangled the petroleum industry is nonsense. The grievance culture of this province is built on ignorance and lies.

Not true at all, and extremely disingenuous, lacking a huge degree of context that is geopolitically / big picture relevant as well.
Your view is simplistic and simply incorrect.

What came online in 2024 CF?? TMX did, a new pipeline.
If there is a bottleneck and you add capacity, of course it is the most ever exported. Doesn't mean there is free and unlimited export capacity for the resource. Painful, that this even needs explained...
There's no winning a conventional war against America. If Trump truly was hell-bent on conquest of Canada, our military would be largely destroyed within the first 48-72 hours.
However, as was shown in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq, you can win an unconventional war against America. Partisan resistance fighters (integrated with whatever remains of Canada's conventional forces) fighting asymmetrically can make the cost in American lives unbearable to the US people. An invasion of Canada, a longtime friendly partner and NATO ally, would already be incredibly unpopular in the US from the moment it began. When there's body bags of US military personnel being sent home daily, it would become even more unpopular. The anti-war protests seen in response to Vietnam and Iraq would be nothing compared to the protests in the USA against an invasion of Canada. Maybe -- maybe -- that might be enough for Republican politicians to finally start opposing Trump's madness or perhaps it would be the impetus for a popular anti-government uprising among US citizens.
Of course, the cost to Canadian lives in this scenario would be immense, so everyone should hope that cooler heads prevail and we never have to put this theory to the test, but I genuinely believe that on a long enough timeline Canadian partisan resistance fighters in combination with anti-regime uprisings in America could successfully resist US annexation and occupation.
Some topical videos I watched recently:
The Gripen:
On US invasion of Canada by a Fin/Swede (can't remember) retired war planner:
Same guy on an invasion of Greenland:
