5 Things - Flames vs. Penguins

Head Coach Ryan Huska lamented a lack of offensive pace during Monday's overtime loss to the Devils.

But a day on, his lineup got an injection of energy with the return of Slovak speedster Martin Pospisil.

Sidelined for the entire regular season, save two AHL appearances this past weekend with the Wranglers, Pospisil lined up at practice Tuesday centring a line with Adam Klapka and Ryan Lomberg on his wings.

Three high-energy guys.

Whitecloud surprised by trade, but excited to join Flames' blue line

Despite having his world turned upside down on Sunday, Zach Whitecloud packed, got on a plane in Las Vegas with his fiancée Monday morning, and made his Flames debut on Monday night.

Game Preview: Pittsburgh Penguins @ Calgary Flames 1/21/26

Season Series: The Flames took a 2-1 decision in a rough and tumble game a couple weeks ago, Logan Cooley made 27 saves to break Pittsburgh’s then six-game winning streak.

Three takeaways as Whitecloud makes positive first impression, Flames fall in OT to Devils

Zach Whitecloud had been through a whirlwind — the shock of being traded for the first time, the scramble to stuff a few suitcases, an early alarm to catch a flight to his new hockey home and then a quick meet-and-greet before pre-game warm-ups.

Bad news Pittsburgh...Calgary is notoriously renowned for killing Penguins!!

Its something we specialize in.

Oh yeah...we have the Penguin guys from the Zoo in the Dome tonight and if theres a thing or two to be known about killing Penguins...those guys know it!

Of note, Solovyov was traded from the Avs to the Penguins the other day. I wonder if we get to see him play.

Looking forward to his tribute video tonight.

Flames own the Pens at the Dome. Tank parked at a red light for now.

It'd be short at least.

The Canucks are playing so bad that it's impossible for us to be worse than them.

Well, not with that attitude.

With a little effort, and the right mindset, we can become the suchiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.

Really cool to see that Whitecloud was playing with Hanafin quite a bit before the trade.

Hold. My. Beer.

I'm going to this one so I expect nothing less than crippling disappointment.

No thanks. Let the chips fall where they may.

Besides, players gonna play to win (even if the team as a whole sucks).

That 4th line with Pospíšil is going to be great. Hopefully he gets back up to speed in no time.

I think the Flames just became a much meaner team to play against with both Whitecloud, and Pospíšil in the lineup.

Now we just need to figure out a way to get both Huberdeau and Kadri going. I think playing the two of them together with Frost or maybe even Pospíšil once he gets up to speed is the way to go.

EDIT: Forgot about Solo, hopefully we see him play for PIT tonight.

Give them Coronato. Put Farabee on Backlund's line. Backlund already has Sharky to shoot the puck Farabee is a forechecker like Coleman.

I have yet to see Coronato develop any chemistry with Kadri, so I like him better with either Frost, or Backlund. I also don't think that Sharangovich and Farabee work that well together.
