Trumps very old. Which leads him (more than ever) to DGAF comments like most old people.

I wouldn’t gloss over his comments as a rambling fool. Dave Chapelle said it best that he confirms what people on the inside are thinking but hiding.

While his delivery is awful, the world should be recognizing that the US does too much. Yes, its reciprocal with commerce going in and military protection going out. Yet the west should see it owns this monster.

For the last decade we could have worked to build independence. Yet Canada and Europe were focused on the wrong things and assumptions. I do like that Carney is pivoting in a hurry, but I hope all the preening of the last decade has not sunk us.

Just seeing Trudeau show up, with his celebrity girlfriend, and ramble on about dining out boycots and soft power should make us all nauseous. We were fools for so long. Now reality is slapping us in the face.

Honestly, people like that congressmen also need to be more selfish. There's no win here for someone in that role. If this is all just bluster as is almost certainly the case and nothing happens, then you've gained nothing. But if Canada were annexed, do you really want to be one of the mouthpieces for the party doing it? You've now got an enormous number of new and undetectable terrorists who want to send a message to you and people like you. Trump has the secret service to stand in front of him; Andy Ogles and his family have essentially nothing.

These people should be far less willing to put themselves out there IMO.

Yeah, it’s all Canada’s fault, not the USA for electing a dementia riddled Nazi backed by Christofascists.

Oh, and Trudeau. *drink

Pretty hilarious comments from a likely UCP/PP supporter whose parties lap at Trump’s nuts and support this crap.

Ya, people are awful. Doesn't mean we should respect or cater to it. They sure as #### shouldn't have elected him second time, but I guess greed and hate are what the people really wanted.

We should absolutely reject 100% any creeping instances of America MAGA culture infiltration Canada. All of it.

I hear you. Our president called the US "a former ally" yesterday and part of me wondered whether that would trigger a response from one the idiots in Donnies administration. But he probably still thinks of us as Ewoks, so I hope we're good.

On whose dime? I'm sure it's yours specifically, the Canadian taxpayer most assuredly.

Just kidding I don’t breathe through my mouth, you'd have to be a real Velcro shoe type to be worried about that.

I know you’ll never actually acknowledge or even consider this possibility, especially with how hard you tried to make your post sound thoughtful, but there’s a very good reason you only ever hear embarrassing wimps go on about Trudeau’s “celebrity girlfriend.”

Nothing about him should make you nauseous at this point. It’s time to let go and grow up.

Trump: "Based upon a very productive meeting I had with Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region. This solution, if consummated, will be a great one... Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the Tariffs"

He said he talked to Rutte, the NATO guy...who doesnt own Greenland. So what exactly might this deal be? Fake news? Lol

He does, I just didnt post the whole stupid thing.

Here it is
Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region. This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations. Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the Tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st. Additional discussions are being held concerning The Golden Dome as it pertains to Greenland. Further information will be made available as discussions progress. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and various others, as needed, will be responsible for the negotiations — They will report directly to me. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Who cares. Trump could forget he said this, forget he had any conversation or who it was with, and change his mind tomorrow and say tariffs are back on. There's no point to hanging on his every word like this, it's a waste of energy.

step 1: create crisis
step 2: everyone talks about crisis
step 3: "solve" crisis
step 4: victory lap
step 5: select topic for step 1

rinse and repeat.

On one of the European outlets yesterday, they speculated that Denmark and Greenland were going to offer up parcels of land on Greenland that the U.S. would have sovereignty over, basically the land that is occupied by military bases and the immediate surrounding area. So instead of leases, the U.S. will own the land.

Trump can claim he won buy acquiring some land, but in reality nothing really changes on how the day-to-day things work for the population of Greenland. They thought there could also be rights given to the U.S. to tap into the mineral resources. Which actually suits Greenland fine because they want foreign investment to help get the industry going. I guess we'll see if their speculation was correct.

All this could have been done without threats and undermining NATO of course. That can't be undone now.
