I love it when this thread gets bumped way more than the Trade Rumour thread.

Wyttenbach nominated for the Hobey Baker. Only Flames prospect this year.
https://hobeybaker.com/vote
Might not win, but cool honor for his first season in the NCAA.

He deserves it, but I am surprised he got nominated since he is a freshman.
What a great pick by Calgary.

That's a lot of people.
Hayden Stavroff looks like he got into the catnip.

always such a peculiar list of famous and old and random. I mean McQueen may well be a better prospect than Reschny but has his freshman season been particularly better or different? not even meaning to pick on McQueen, just came to mind. anyways cool for EW

Amazing season for this kid, 5th round pick to Hobey Baker nominee in less than a year. Good for him and great for the Flames.

It is quite unreal.
For U19 players 1.38 p/gp is the best in the country right now, with Horcoff (1.25), Mckenna (1.20), Reschny (1.20), and Potter (1.08) making up the top 5.
But it's also the 11th best in the past 20 years - with some really remarkable names:
Fantilli: 1.81
Eichel: 1.78
Smith: 1.73
Celebrini: 1.68
Perreault: 1.67
Schwartz: 1.57
Cooley: 1.54
Leonard: 1.46
Keller: 1.45
Boeser: 1.43
Wyttenbach: 1.38
Toews: 1.35
Larkin: 1.34
Kessel: 1.31
That's pretty good company to keep for a 18 year old, 5th round pick.

excuse my laziness, but if these last names are all who I think they are- aren't they all first round picks otherwise? (mostly top 10). and all NHLers?

None of these players had the influx of CHL eligible players into the NCAA to contend with like Wyttenbach has. So 11th when he has stronger competition each night.

So I was thinking about doing that but got lazy too...but
Fantilli: 1.81 (1st Overall, Draft season)
Eichel: 1.78 (2nd Overall, Draft season)
Smith: 1.73 (4th Overall, Draft + 1 season)
Celebrini: 1.68 (1st Overall, Draft season)
Perreault: 1.67 (23 Overall, Draft + 1 season)
Schwartz: 1.57 (14th Overall, Draft + 1 season)
Cooley: 1.54 (3rd Overall, Draft + 1 season)
Leonard: 1.46 (8th Overall, Draft + 1 season)
Keller: 1.45 (7th Overall, Draft + 1 season)
Boeser: 1.43 (23rd Overall, Draft + 1 season)
Wyttenbach: 1.38 (144 Overall, Draft + 1 season)
Toews: 1.35 (3rd Overall, Draft + 1 season)
Larkin: 1.34 (15th Overall, Draft + 1 season)
Kessel: 1.31 ( 5th Overall, Draft Season)
So not including Wyttenbach the average draft position of these players was 8th overall.

Pretty neat statistical anomaly that 2 of that list are 23rd overall picks.

^ So we're looking at a Monahan on the wing.

Scorp who was once a big Coyotes fan, says he reminds him a bit of Keller.
And their NCAA Draft+1 production is very similar too.

He says he's been working hard on skating so that's better than Monahan. His clips show good lateral movement.

the added draft position of all the rest is still lower than his 144

If you add up all those other picks it comes to 112 picks into the draft compared to Wyttenback at 144....
