This guys a gem. Unless there’s a great deal on the table to flip him, I’m more than happy to have him stick around. Seems like he’s going to be a great teammate

That's a very altruistic and reasoned way to want high picks. Much more mature and rational than those idiots that just want it and state as such.

Which one? I genuinely can't tell. They were all pretty similar as Flames.

Whitecloud isn’t just a throw in scrub. He won’t probably generate as much offence as Andersson but I bet he’ll be better defensively and he’ll probably be more physical.

I really think the Flames did well with the trade. Especially since Andersson is technically just a rental.

I’m guessing Hamonic, simply because he cost so much more to acquire. A fair number of fans never got over their expectations for a guy who cost a 1st and two 2nds, especially when the Islanders had the good fortune to get Dobson with the 1st.

I’ve noted a number of cognitive distortions that are frequent among sports fans. Sunk-cost fallacy is another example.

Out of thanks, but I agree very strongly.

I think it’s likely that the Flames will keep Whitecloud and trade another veteran D. Pachal would be my first guess, if they find a buyer at any decent price. Hanley is also possible; Weegar if they get an offer they can’t refuse.

I said in another post that Whitecloud was a throw-in, but I meant that from the standpoint of roster and cap numbers to make the deal possible. He’s miles better than the typical cap dump.

It’s tough to watch these games between two bad teams. The Flames were clearly distracted and lucky Cooley kept them in it. The Devils weren’t much better and have trouble generating offense when Jacks Hughes is off the ice.

OT was so sad. Not the first time Huska made a questionable line choice and the Flames never got possession.

Had a good first impression of Whitecloud.

Cooley rocking a 0.922SV%, six wins in 16 games on a terrible team. I can't recall a Flames backup above 92% more than halfway through a season?

He was tremendous in 2023 during that Vegas cup run. If he gets back to anything close to that form, Conny has hit a home run with this trade.

I think at this point Cooley is our best goalie. Both are great but Cooley just seems so solid right now. He needs to get more starts.

Goaltending is by far the Flames best position. I was dissappointed when Vladar left but I think Cooley is a lot better goalie.

Cooley GAA 2.18 Save % 0.922 16 GP
Wolf GAA 2.98 Save % 0.900 37 GP

Best Flames tandem that I have seen.

I’d get rid of Hanley before Pachal personally. Due to age and Pachal brings a physical edge that Hanley doesn’t. Neither produce much offense

Is Hanley really much more then we got him besides 2 years older and twice the price? With a year remanining. I could see someone taking a flyer on Pachal but scratching him so often could hurt that aswell

Hanley has been good as a steady partner for the young D. Pachal doesn't really bring that, and besides, he plays the same side as Parekh and Brzustewicz. Ideally, I think the organization would like to clear out an RD to make room.
