Flames Huska's Zone Defensive Hockey System

Hey guys,

Does anyone feel like watching Huska's hockey system boring to watch or is it just me. Compared to Darryl Sutters man-to-man coverage?

Huska’s system is fine. We just need more high-end players and a few game-breakers to make things more interesting.

Yes. Undoubtedly. Not only is his D zone system boring it's ineffective. Don't even get me started on his offensive system.

You think better or not compared to Darryl Sutters system?

Maybe because we don't have the talent up-front to score enough goals.

The Flames are worse than watching paint dry. If we're going to suck, at least institute a run and gun system that is fun to watch.

Huska is doing what he can with what he has. It’s boring because the talent isn’t there.

Run and gun systems are only fun to watch if there is some gun. The Flames would get blown out every game.

Highly recommend watching other teams play and compare. It's like we play in slow-motion. I watched the Ducks/Knights game the other night and it was so fast-paced and fun. Mind you, our defensive game is way better than the both of them, but our offense is bone-dry. When we get offensive gamebreakers I think Huska will allow us to be freed.

That would be terrible, we might even get rewarded with the first overall draft pick.

Haha, if we get blown-out every game. We'd be close to first dib's on The Lottery Draft Pick.

Blowouts are even worse to watch than what it is right now. At least the forwards are learning some defense. The Flames still have a pretty good shot at the 1st overall

It isn't happening. I hope Huska is still here when we get some good young offensive talent so I can see what new excuses the I love Huska crowd come up with when they still can't score. Reality is the Flames have enough offensive skill that they should be mid pack but when that is totally neutered by gaining the zine and then throwing everything back to the point for an unscreened long shot you are not scoring a lot. I'm sure if we get McKenna he is going to just love that strategy considering he is a high end playmaker like Huberdeau was before Ryan Huska sucked the life out of him.

Some gun? I don’t even know if we have run.

Maybe. I’m not convinced if we had the talent the system would change. At his intro presser he said he pretty much runs the same style as Sutter .

100%. We are actually hard to play against because of our defensive structure, it’s our offence that lets us down. We rank in the top half of league in some key defensive metrics, and our PK is 7th. This is how you need to play to have success, we just need some real talent. I think we have the right coaching staff to grow the team with.

I don’t think there is much of a I Love Huska crowd
I think most feel he’s getting a lot out of a roster that lacks talent but also probably won’t be the coach when they are ready to compete
