32Thoughts - Friedman Last thoughts on Andersson’s trade:

Saturday night Bruins believed they could get a deal done. Everything changed Sunday morning when his agent Claude Lemieux told the Flames that Andersson was willing to go to Boston but couldn’t promise an extension. So everything flipped and Boston was out.

Boston’s offer never included the Toronto pick. He believes it was one of their 2027 picks.

Around the Flames locker room there was a feeling he was going to Boston.

For a while now Andersson has liked the idea of going to Vegas and Vegas always knew they were his preferred destination. In the end, Andersson decided where he wanted to go.

He’s doubtful about the Detroit rumors, Yzerman is not moving Danielson.

He thinks Conroy wants to keep Whitecloud but that could change

Calgary is going to get a lot of calls for Whitecloud: “If I’m the Flames I call Boston right away”

Doesn’t think Flames are done, they have one more retention slot for the season.

Other Flames:

21:50 Coleman: he’s not going to be very flexible with his 10 teams no trade. Doesn’t think Montreal will happen, it’s not on his list. He says Tampa Bay makes too much sense.

Took me a while to remember his name but Anton Stralman, not sure he fits exactly but my brain will forget again if I don't write it down lol

Why not? They had just traded their starting goalie and really pushed into a rebuild. Although, the Monahan trade conditions do add another layer of uncertainty that I wasn’t taking into account.

Well credit to Conroy, this team is very interesting off the ice, lots to talk about while we wait for the TDL and Draft.

Trade tracker tells me there was 2 months in between acquiring and moving.

Not exactly a flip if thats accurate. By flip I mean someone they brought in and moved almost immediately.

Ideally for me, I would like to see the Vegas pick fall about 25th, and then get another late first for Coleman or Kadri, in the 20-22 range.

Then use both of those to get the twins out of Medicine Hat. That would be fun, and they are lighting it up with Basha back now.

If you’re able to perhaps add O’Reilly as well in a Coleman deal, we could be onto something.

Maybe something like

Coleman (50% retained) + Hanley/Pachal

For

O’Reilly

Kadri

For

Montreal 1st + Zhadorovsky

We could be laughing in the next few years

Dare to dream

Trade Lomberg for a 3rd
Sign him again in the summer
Rinse and Repeat.

If I have to guess Coleman would be willing to go to Dallas, Tampa Bay, Vegas, Colorado, and maybe Florida (might not due to history with Tampa) as his preferred destinations.

If New Jersey didn't fall into turmoil I think he'd be okay to go there too.

And then he could easily add in teams like Edmonton and Toronto to make his “list” a bit tighter for realistic destinations that Conroy would move him to

He also said regarding Brayden Point for the olympics

- if they view him as the 3C, he will be replaced by a C
- if they view him as a top 6 winger, he expects Hyman replaces him (booooo)

Do we really need to bring him back? I like the dude but I feel like that spot could be used on a younger player.

That sucks but expected with a kid on the way. Hopefully he has a couple of real options on there.

Nothing recently, if ever. Although, they also really haven't been in a position to do so very often.

I'd say Kuzmenko is the only recent player that they could have done that with, but his value was pretty deflated coming from Vancouver and they likely got a much better return by hanging onto him for another year than they would have by flipping him.

Couldn't remember exactly but it always bothered me because Stralman ended up being a player and we traded him for sfa. Always felt like he never had a chance.

Stralman was traded two months later, but because he was acquired during the summer, he never did play a game for the Flames.

There are plenty of room for young players if they can make it

The Flames currently do not have enough NHL ready prospects

Just a quick meta-board comment:

- yes, the people who constantly criticize the insiders are annoying
- the people who pile on the people who do that instead of just ignoring them entirely are almost as annoying
- worse than all, IMO, are these random appeals to the insiders. Y'all have no patience or ability to be cool at all. These folks have given us way more than we could ask most of the time, no need to push them at all hours for more. Just leave them be.

Hyman does have 19 goals in 31 games.
