I've been to Vegas when it's super hot, but that's so dry it's like opening an oven. I'd take that all day compared to heavy humidity and poor air quality.

I have experienced both humid heat and dry heat.

I was in Alabama during the summer of 1999 when there was another big heat wave across the South. About 110F with the humidity every day. Stifling heat and quite dangerous--my friend's grandma's air conditioning stopped working in another town and we immediately set out on what was essentially a rescue mission to get her.

Last December I went on a three-week roadtrip throughout central and Eastern Australia. In the outback it was about 40 degrees every day. With air conditioning it was okay, but once you left the vehicle it was uncomfortable to be outside for more than a couple minutes. In between the south coast at Port Augusta to the northeast coast at Townsville, every lake and river we passed was completely dried up with the exception of one.

After we did a three-hour hike in 40 degree heat, we understood why we were the only ones on the track:

Well I love the hot heat. Around the end of July...it was plus 46 C around Winnipeg...the hottest I've ever experienced it. Even back in the day when I lived in Washington....it would hit 110 F....but without the humidity it wasn't that hot. I guess you get used to it after a while.

I think that kind of weather is great! I wish it was like that here all the time in Calgary. I love heat heat heat. I was loving the weather this summer in Calgary till today. Feels like a real summer that I am used to, our July.

I love the heat as long as there's no humidity.

Although it does suck for sleeping.

Thats why one should AC!!! No matter the temp, sleep like a baby.

I actually like humidity, great for skin and ensures warmer temp.

The thought did cross my mind. Then reality reminded me that what happened this past July doesn't happen very often.

Yeah I saw one or two of em....I worked for them.

Not sure what turned you off in Asheville, but its a beautiful spot and the most diverse population I think you can find anywhere in North America. Like any place it has its pros and cons, but the benefits far outweigh the negatives IMO.

And this is why I detest wind chill and humidex being expressed as teperatures. Because people end up with misleading comments like it was 46C; when really it was 35C but very humid.

I try to get to Myrtle Beach SC in May where it is still cool here but scorching down there. Get a few rounds of golf in to get ahead of the chumps back home. I want to go down in March, but the weather is so hit and miss then.

Hmm, well im not a derma doctor, but i find when i am in humid climates(Ont, Florida, Carribean), lotion is never needed. But when I am in a god for saken dry climate, the need for lotion is always a must. Skin gets dry and all.

I understand why residents in Calgary dont like hot days and nights though, as most are not used to having homes with AC. In other warmer climates, AC is a must. Whereas in Calgary, since it doesnt have very warm temps, its never been needed. Hopefully we get more and more hot humid days and people will begin to purchase AC, and no more complaining bout great warm weather. lol.

Its sad though, since its only August and my damn negative thinking is that summer is practically over. Being it begins to cool off so quickly here, hope its different this year. I love warm nights. If i never saw snow and/or cold again in my life, i would be estatic. I love to play hockey, but that can be played indoors...lol.

When you leave an A/C building/house/car and walk outside, its like walking into a wet blanket....it sticks to you.

I have an idea Tranny, how bout you come here and I will move there. I would love that, hot humid feeling. Much better than going outside to -10 or -20 degree weather(winter) or this 15 degree crap we have right now during the day. lol....i will take any warmth, whether dry or humid.

I used to feel the exact same way...until I have lived in it now for 7 years.

I can dress for cold....but I can only get so naked. And its not so much the 96 degrees F that is rough...but when you throw 50%+ humidity on top of it...its like walking into a hot wet towel EVERY time you step outside. No one can enjoy anything outdoors in this climate.

Wow, I'm in the south and while the sky is dark, there is no hale to be seen. I even checked the press-box and everything.
