Beat the Hanifin return at least and about what a rental is worth but it sucks that he’ll probably sign with Vegas this week. Other teams probably backed away once Andersson refused to negotiate. Hopefully they flip Whitecloud and juice the return a little more.

He isn't a player the Flames should be adding and he is definitely a player the Knights want to dump once they have Andersson. That is a cap dump to me.
If his value is a 2nd round pick then trade him for a 2nd round pick and let Pachal and Parekh split the RD spot.

You take the picks and move forward, but these are low/lower quality picks based on the Vegas strength, low quality prospect, and a player for “right now”.
It’s a “quantity” return, not a “quality” return.
Whitecloud potentially hurts our ‘26 1st, and that may be the most painful thing to me.

If so, then he must be a pretty decent asset no?

Just to be clear, the 2027 2nd is guaranteed right? There's no scenario where we don't get at LEAST that 2nd?

What I don't like is the 2027 pick being top 10 protected? If it had to be protected why isn't top 3 or max 5 protected?

1st + 2nd (possible 1st) + NHL defenseman (maybe with a 2nd or 2nd +)
And of course - as everyone predicted - you start yelling that everyone should be fired

That was months ago when we were in last place. We clearly are not finishing in last now.
And we added Whitecloud, which keeps us better than just not adding another vet. I would have rather just not had him included in the deal.

I believe in the Jays.
|
We really do have to trade Coleman and Kadri now if there are decent offers. Those two both have risk of their games falling off a cliff and being worth nothing in a year from now.

Vegas is going to play Edmonton in round two as well. Everyone will be conflicted on who they want to see win. I guess we're cheering for Vegas to win the Cup or bust?

It does seem like the removal of conditions for a player re-signing has ultimately hurt selling clubs, as it's been replaced by tougher to reach conditions around team success.
I still have never heard the rationale for why that is no longer allowed.

Thank you Rasmus. You were awesome for us on and off the ice. All the best to you.
If you meet the grease in the playoffs, knock them out please.

Were all the media guys out there also blindsided by the trade speculation thread as well? I didn't realize this site got that much attention. Nobody thinks the Flames did well here in the mainstream media.

Correct. Picks can only upgrade not downgrade

I don't know, I'm thoroughly confused reading what's reported vs what I'm reading here. Gonna give it a couple of days to shake out and see what official sites list, and see if I can follow it then.

Friedman said it was the 2027 2nd, but Seravalli says its the 2028 2nd.

Looks like it's a 2028 2nd that becomes a 1st if Vegas wins the Cup in 2026. So, yes, it's a second rounder at worst.

He was having a bad year and we would have been selling low. I am not sure you get more for a player having a bad year and another year under contract with no guarantee that they will bounce back, than you would for a pending UFA having a great year.
