Mitch Love gets head coaching job for Shanghai Dragons in the KHL. He replaces Gerard Gallant who steps down for personal reasons.

Thank goodness for Huska. This is a good reminder of what could have been.

It's insane to me that he was suspended for an entire season and fired, despite no charges ever being filed before, after, or during the investigation. Meanwhile Hart got a multi-year contract and all the Blackhawks old management team seem to be finding work.

Most have been some damning accusation.

Did Love got charged with anything formally? Or all of the issues were just "alleged"?

The KHL seems to be the landing place for all of the North American players and coaches that get accused or found guilty of things which ruin their reputations.

As far as I can tell, no charges were ever laid.

Charges aside, because I dont know what they were or whether they were true or not, this is kind of cool.

He is now a Hockey Coach in Shanghai. This is like the premise to a 1980s Roger Corman movie.

The Shanghai Dragons vs. The Mighty Ducks! Quack, quack mutha######!!!

Shanghai in name only. They play all their home games in Saint Petersburg's SKA Arena, some 7100 km to the west.

Weird setup in the KHL. Previous team Kunlun Red Star was based out of Moscow.

We should totally take advantage of that. Then the Flames can be a warm-weather market and get off everybody's NTC list.

Ladies and gentlemen, your Puerto Vallarta Flames… who just happen to play their home games in Calgary!
