He kinda always plays the exact character. It’s funny but token awkward gay guy thing where thin at some point.

Listen, he's a "Weekend Update" favorite and one who has been made to play characters like the iceberg that ran into the Titanic (though he's also admitted he helped write that viral SNL sketch) and a Chinese balloon that was shot down. As he's gained more equity on the show, he says he's tried to cut back on pitches like these, as well as "low-hanging" jokes about being a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Can’t believe Jost would have bit on that but who knows. Great send off for Bowen.

Going to miss Yang. He's definitely been a highlight since day 1.

NGL, I do not know the 24th folks at all.
Skarsgard might be fun, love when dramatic actors show their comedic side.

Yup, been about that long since I've watched a whole episode. Maybe longer.

The Not Ready for Prime Team Players were hit and miss 50 years ago too. We remember the good sketches and forget all the bombs. Update is the most consistent part.

There are good ones and bad ones; this was a really bad one, unfortunately.

I don't know about anyone else, but I just can't laugh at the Trump cold opens any more. There's just nothing remotely funny about what's currently happening in real life, and you can tell that the writers at SNL and other satirical sites like the Onion are struggling to find the humour in this stuff.
That being said, Colin Jost's Hagseth impression is spot-on.

Well, this is a loaded question…
Lots. Those who love it would give you very different answers. Biggest issue for me is much more political satire and much less laughs. I have a feeling that they really want to target young viewers and that’s not working well. Many skits feel like they’re written by 12-yr olds. Or maybe it is working for them and we’re simply getting grumpier with age, I don’t know. It’s always been hit and miss over the past few decades. Just more and more misses, it seems. But then, once in a blue moon, a really good episode comes out and it’s fun to watch.
Thanks for the recording option though, sitting through 45 min of commercials would be intolerable. At least you can fast forward bad stuff.
