Your feelings defy logic. He will sign an extension because that is the best thing for his career earnings.
$76M over the next 8 years is vastly superior to $70M over the next 7 years.
This isn't free agency. Teams are not being given free reign to talk to the player. In fact, it is already stated that Conroy is maintaining very tight control over the situation to avoid getting burned.

Critical thinking I suppose. Friedman also reported a deal was agreed upon. Not sure why they would report that if it wasn’t true. Hague said no, the deal fell apart. Doesn’t sound wild or unbelievable.
I could ask why do you think Conroy and Andersson are being completely truthful? Why do we believe them? Same reason probably. Why would they lie?
But here we sit months later after Andersson said he would be open to signing with other teams no one is stepping up to even try and sign him except for maybe Boston?

It’s essentially Rasmus one and only time to cash in, so you can’t blame him for making sure he picks the right spot. Don’t forget the goal for him is to win a cup, so finding a team that’s in and around it is ideal.
|
It’s also about how bad he wants to win. I wouldn’t pick the Bruins if I was dead set on a contender

No one is allowed to talk extension with Andersson until Conroy permits it.
That is precisely how he is maintaining control of the situation

Six million dollars might not be enough for him to change course on where he wants to go. He has generational wealth in either scenario

Yeah, I didn't say he was talking to other teams right now. If he's set on picking where he's going, he'll wait till free agency.

Leddy with 17m a night in minutes. A -9 and 4 pts in 19 gp. Their D corps isn't great but he can't even stick on it.

It just doesn’t add up for me I guess. I’m sorry it’s just how I feel. We had the consensus best RHD on the market and no one seems to be coming forward to try and land him? And yes they’re asking for deals to be agreed upon before allowing extension talks but nothing is getting to that point. You’d have to think teams aren’t bothering because they know he won’t sign.
Again I would love to be wrong and see a hail for him today and he extends with say Detroit and we’re all happy. I just don’t feel that’s going to happen.
Doesn’t mean I’m not enjoying the discussion and don’t have trade ideas or things like that just that if anything other than a rental to someone now and signing with Vegas in the summer happens I’ll be pleasantly surprised. And happy to be wrong case it means a better return for the Flames.

No one has gotten access to talk to him yet. He did not talk to the Kings and he hasn't talked to Vegas. The big talking heads said the Kings offer was a 'haul' or whatever but it turns out it wasn't true.
Boston only just got access to Andersson and perhaps the new team now has access too.
Critical thinking isn't supporting your position here. Your position appears to be "it hasn't happened yet, therefore it will never happen".
We know that all of these people have to be careful what they say in the media and that whatever they are saying publicly is likely a part of the negotiation process but I would read more into what Conroy and Andersson are saying than Lebrun.

Also, I hope the new team is Seattle. Washington is another no income tax state. Hopefully, they can persuade him to sign.

I mean Hanifin was traded without an extension, to only sign an extension. Hand shake deals could happen, then they just have to pay the highest rental price to win, not extension price. There is only so much control to be had if you permit his camp to talk to the opposing team

I think you're ignoring facts here - multiple teams HAVE come forward with aggressive offers. Other teams were involved as well, but those teams wouldn't or couldn't meet the price of the most determined teams, and thus fell out of the race. So now we're down to the teams willing to pay the most. To now spin it around and say 'there's only a couple teams interested', simply doesn't align with the facts.

I don't know. The situation isn't black and white to make that assertion IMO. Im of the belief that 31 teams have looked into acquiring Andersson. The primary issue is that Andersson holds the cards on where he goes. The lay of the land now in the NHL is that team will not give up premium value unless they get the player locked in long term. There no real great area if Andersson will not even negotiate with 28 teams that are interested in his services.
Balls in his court. People will call it getting Hanifin'ed but really it's just the way the league has set up the rules of trading.

If I'm Ras and I'm serious about playing for a contending team the. I'm not sure Boston is it. Let's say that the west team is SJ or even Anaheim as some are speculating, I'd chose to go west. They both look like they have solid futures with some key players to build teams around. I'm not sure Boston is in the same strong situation for a bright future. I'd tell Boston the number starts with 9 but I'd tell SJ or Ana that 8 is the starting point.

There have been multiple posts explaining the critical differences between how this is being handled, vs what happened with Hanifin
