I think that’s a silly ultimatum that would be very unlikely. More likely that doing well by the player for 10 years is what is remembered vs acting responsibly and protecting your interests as an organization.

If Lohrei is coming back, the cap isn't a problem for them (even without retention)

This is the difference between treating the players as assets vs. treating them as people.
As an asset you are stuck thinking about risk vs. reward.
As a person, you have to collaborate with them to ensure both sides are getting what they want out of a situation.
What's right for the franchise is to work with Andersson and accommodate his requirements, ideally, in return he'll work with Conroy to enable the best return possible for the organization.
This is a big part of the culture thing that many posters neg on and yet the team culture and Conroy's relationship with Andersson are likely paying off huge here to get the Flames a better return than what Vegas would offer.

Sorry, but that’s just silly. He’s accommodating the situation but let’s be clear: signing an extension and getting an extra year is a very good thing for Ras.
You can handle that numerous ways without it being a #### you

I didn't agree with playing him either but it is done now. No point being upset about it, he is healthy and we got to see him one last time!

Some fans are so singularly focused on what they want (trade, rebuild, whatever), that they refuse to see that there is more to running an organization than that

Not it at all. It’s ok for fans to be emotional and want farewells. It’s also ok to be more pragmatic and look at it as a really big gamble that thankfully didn’t bite us.
Onward, hopefully they land a great deal and we turn the page.

Or..
There are still multiple teams involved and the Flames are not under time pressure...yet. could be 5+ more games before this gets done.
Or...
Rasmus has not seen a number he likes and likewise doesn't want to give up his leverage sitting there and waiting. Remember that the acquiring team also takes a risk of not getting a key asset for the next 8 years.
Or...
Bettman after his announcement earlier this week put all teams on notice...

Strange that people think the Flames should be overly considerate on where Rasmus goes.
It’s usually the same people who will argue Ras can do what he wants because it’s his right.
So it’s just business for the player, but not for the team?
Flames should do whatever is best for the team. Doing so won’t come back to bite them. It’s business. Vegas is very cutthroat when it comes to their players. It doesn’t seem to prevent players from wanting to sign there.

This was all on the premise that this is done before Monday. If it’s not close then yes you play him, I said as much earlier.

I understand we are impatient here for the trade to happen but if you look at it from Andersson's perspective... let the man change, shower, hang out with his teammates one last time, say hi to family after the game, chat with staff etc. His first priority after the game is not oh boy I better sign this contract rn so folks online can stop stressing. He can sign the contract at any point in the evening

Everyone knows Conroy takes every trade call completely naked. That's why Maloney is so opposed to making them.
