If it’s that close, I’m at a loss for why he played today. Some may see that as classy, I think that would be bordering on reckless.

2025/2026 Season Trade Rumours and Speculation Thread
Highest time on ice for the Flames today by 4 minutes (25 vs 21 for Bahl and Weegar). They certainly were not limiting him.

He did have a little say in the situation, if he wanted to play that card….. so why force it?

The Flames were the only ones to beat the Habs for the Cup, but the Rangers beat the Maroons there in 1928 (the Forum was originally built to be the home of the Maroons and the Habs moved in a couple years after it opened).

It wasn’t vs the Habs. Rangers beat the Maroons in 1928.

So excited man; another 26 1st would be unreal so anything on top of that is truly gravy, I’d be fine with a 26 1st + prospect… 3 pieces would be such a good return.

So he needs to return the favor and agree to sign in Boston.

Depends on the return, right? If it is a 1st and non-roster prospect(s) then the Bruins game doesn't really matter.
If Lohrei is a part of the package then before/after the Bruins game would make sense.
If Letourneau and the Leafs 1st is a part of the deal then they can pull the trigger at any time.
I wonder how the Bruins are going to sort out their cap situation.

How are the flames for contracts and salary cap implications if this happens as envisioned?
Just asking if there has to be other moves to remain compliant with rules.
I’d retain salary if it meant getting the best deal.

It’s nice to accommodate players but this is one where you just need to prioritize what’s right for the franchise. Again, you weigh the risk/reward and personally I don’t think it’s close.

If the prospect is Poitras he would draw into the Flames lineup almost immediately as he's nhl ready.
A 21yo center with untapped potential and a lot to prove. I really like the idea of him and another 1st.. if its Torontos, which could be a mid round pick, even better.

My gut is telling me that this is a diabolical move by the Flames AND Andersson….fiend wanting an extension but move him for the best non extension deal and resign Rasmus back next year with additional resources/picks!

They're good no matter what happens. If it's Boston, there will need to be some cap coming back because they don't have enough room for Ras's full cap hit.

Ok. So theoretically, what if Andersson said he’ll look at signing an extension with another team, but I want to play one last home game first.
Do you trade him for a lesser return as a rental or let him play one more home game and get a better return?

"Rasmus, we would really appreciate it if you would sign an extension with the team we want to trade with"
"Can I have one more game at home, first?"
"No, #### you"
