I'm not 100% certain but based on my own observations, they replenish after a certain time period and only the ones you used during the time period that is being replenished.
If you have 50 thanks per day and you use all 50 in the 1st 6 minutes then 24 hours later you'll get all 50. But if you used 5 at noon, 10 at 1pm, 15 at 2pm, 10 at 3pm and 10 at 4pm the next day you'll get back 5 at noon, 10 at 1pm, 15 at 2pm, 10 at 3pm and 10 at 4pm
At least that is the way it felt like to me. I haven't tested it out or asked for clarification, it just seemed that way and wasn't important enough to me to see if that was true
