Ultimately I think Boston is the winner until proven otherwise. Even in the internet world full of trolls and turd disturbers, I've never seen folks stick their necks out like that in one night. Granted they were probably right at the time but until the trade call is made, nothing is ever across the line.
my guess would be that Boston and Calgary agreed on the framework of a deal (which then got out), but it hinges on Raz committing to the extension (which hasn't happened yet).

I want that Toronto pick because it would make the end of the season very fun. Id also want to load up any other Atlantic team possible. Coleman to the Atlantic for sure. Kadri for Beck sounding more reasonable if it helps the Toronto pick be higher lol.

Reminder: trades have two parts: the teams send a filing - used to be a fax, now it's an e-mail, I think - to Central Registry. Once the registry receives it, they reach out to the teams to schedule a trade call. The trade isn't official/announced until the trade call and if there are a lot of pieces or or complications - players with no-trade/no-move clauses that need waiving, conditional picks - it can take awhile.

Yeah, that’s would be nuts. This is probably announced before then if DSB is correct.

But as others have said. Dreger is related to Nonnis and knows the Poitras family. Hard to believe he would not be dialed in this particular instance.

So that fact he says the deal is not yet done means DSB probably jumped the gun.

I kind of want the Boston rumour to be true for no other reason than Calgary having Toronto's 1st, and Conroy knocking it out of the park in front of Treliving. Would be some sweet justice.

Was just going to say, it Very much could be agreed on, just not filed. Chances are that there's not many people hanging out at the NHL offices 2am their time to register the trade.

If the trade is announced this morning it will pretty much verify that Dreger isn't getting tidbits from Nonis

I'm curious what the trade conditions are on the Leafs pick.

Is it going to be as rumored where it's the better of either Boston's or T. O's pick?

Or do the Flames get the Boston 26 pick is the Leafs win the lotto and pick top 5 in which case the Bruins get the Leafs 27 1st unprotected.

Doesn't sound too complicated but those details will be fun to see.

DSB is Big Save Dave spelled backwards.

Bold prediction: It was Rittich behind this rumour all along. That, or maybe I haven’t slept much since since seeing the tweet last night.

Either way, insert Scooby Doo gif of the villain being unmasked only to reveal that it was Rittich behind this epic troll job.

I think it'd be a pretty fair deal for both sides, if Raz signs a long-term extension. Lohrei could be another Bahl and do well if given more ice time. Poitras is probably a B prospect. Boston still keeps one of their 1sts and immediately upgrades their D by a lot.

Dunno, just feels like a fair deal that both sides could live with.

From TOR to BOS

Top 5 protected, slides to 2027. The 2027 pick goes to Philadelphia (as part of Laughton trade) if it is outside the top 10, which converts this pick to Boston to a 2028 unprotected 1st Round Pick. If this Pick slides to 2027 and is in the top 10, TOR can either transfer it to BOS to satisfy this trade and then give PHI the 2028 unprotected, or transfer it to PHI and give BOS the 2028 unprotected 1st Round Pick.

https://puckpedia.com/trade/977

Now add any BOS to CGY conditions…

I’m with MrCoffee on this one. Sometimes teams have to be aggressive and chase small windows, not just assume they’ve got a big wide window opening for 4+ years.
I’d be all for it but I just think Kadri is too old for Hage to come back. Hopefully eating crow 🐦#⬛

Dreger’s insider status was/is in large part because he has a direct line to someone at the league office who administratively directly deals with trade paperwork.

Recall the Jokinen trade away when he announced it one evening, because it was submitted to the league office by the Rags. Dreger jumped all over it, desperate to be first to report it, but trade call didn’t happen that night, Jokinen and Flames played that night, and then it got announced the next day.

The return for Rasmus has to make this team better in the short term and long term, not just because his departure means they will be not as good on the ice for the rest of this season.

The Flames don’t have too many bullets left in the chamber for turning solid assets into legitimate current or near future solid assets, and haven’t been able to add the talent that Conroy has expected by this point in his tenure.

I don't see Montreal trading Hage. And not for Kadri.

They are a young team and their window is just opening. They don't need to go all in for the next couple years.

I think if anyone was expecting the 19 year olds and 18 year olds that Craig drafted in the last two drafts to contribute their expectations were too high. Craig has not added the talent that can help in the near term because all of his trade targets have been to get young prospects and picks that cannot reasonably be expected to contribute until they are 22-25 and most of them are not in that age range yet to start contributing. Pretty sure the expectation was to always be bad for 3-5 years with the complete lack of focus on trading good players for existing good players.

This is why so many rebuilding teams never amount to anything real. Constantly kicking the can down the road instead of pushing their chips in when they have all the pieces. The recipe for mid.

This is also a change from what he has been saying in the past. So things have definitely changed somewhat, from what Dreger believes at least.
What’s interesting is on one hand Dreger is saying he believes there’s a strong chance Kadri goes. On the other hand Stienberg has been saying for weeks he thinks the offers for Coleman are going to be too good to pass up. Frank also saying he thinks 20 teams have asked about Coleman at one point or another.

The opportunity in front of the Flames is pretty astounding. Hope they go the aggressive route here and deal them all but it is not in their DNA, so to speak, to do that. I bet two out of the three go.
