Yeah, I’m underrating Gridin too much.
Just thinking of a way to pry Iginla out of there

Would be tough for Utah to say no to that.
I know, not happening

People love to say Utah isn't trading Iginla... but they have a metric -tonne of young superstar forwards, and not a single top-4 D outside of Sergachev.

But they only have one player who was the first ever draft pick of their franchise, who is the son of a Hall of Fame player, and whom they have made the centrepiece of their marketing campaign. If they trade him, they can easily replace him on the ice, but they can't replace the hype they built around him.

Thinking about it some more, yeah it might be a trade.
- Huska won't play him right away (tomorrow afternoon), never does with the call up kids
- Gridin benefits more from game time, developing him is the focus
- Recalling him as a reward for play, only to sit, does not require him to miss tonight's Wranglers game. He could just hop over tomorrow morning.
Therefore they are sitting him to avoid an injury.

Powerplay Quarterback

If they traded Gridin, I will not be happy.
Why? I'm not sure why. Maybe because this team has zero high-end talent and the only hope Don Maloney offered me is that they might get lucky with a later pick. And this seemed like the best bet at the moment.
God, being a Flames fan sucks.

Only way you do is for a clear 1C player. More than likely I could see this being because of a Coleman move and he has earned it for a few games

I could see other teams asking about Gridin. Somehow I doubt Conroy’s getting offers for Kerins.

Gridin, a 2029 7th rounder, and a signed dvd copy of Orgazmo for Tij.

I think they're hoping he is the guy that carries the torch for the franchise for a generation and is pretty much untouchable. Theoretically any trade for him would start with Parekh+ and the plus would have to be significant as well.

Huska did play Gridin off the bat the first time around so who knows.

Good point. I am in no hurry to see him moved.
For a legit #1C prospect, OK. I'd learn to live with that.

By not playing the AHL game tonight, he’ll be fresh for tomorrow afternoon. My guess is Stromgren gets sent down.

Huberdeau to LTIR to have repairs done, out for the rest of the season. Gridin to take his place.

Sure. I have no desire to see him traded, but if there’s a real upgrade, you have to do these things sometimes.
