That's generally the Flames luck ... but maybe things turn around here.
Leafs have traded the Bruins a high pick before

Also funny the Flames blew their chance to get the Leafs pick by not trading Ras last deadline according to a million debates on here over the last year

My guess is the conditions on the Leafs pick would transfer to the Flames - so then they'd have Leafs 2027 pick if the Leafs end up picking top 5 this year

I know there was a bunch of controversy about instagram posts earlier this year BUT…
Lohrei did post on instagram two hours ago for the first time in six weeks with a bunch of Boston pics and a bunch of comments wishing him luck in Calgary.

Lohrei - Weegar
Bahl - Parehk
Kuznetzov - Brzustewicz
Hanley - Pachal
If the trade goes down that looks like the depth chart to finish out the year once Parehk is healthy; Hanley and Pachal also could be flipped for mid/late picks.

Well, technically the Carlo deal was better. He got more than Ras is getting.
Minten > Lohrei or Poitras
No?
[edit] actually no, this deal is better

I don't love the step back in AHL production that Poitras took this year

I hope it isn't too complex. The cgy-montreal-florida 1st conditions were annoying enough.

Getting the Leafs first would be ideal, and I could still cheer for Ras in Boston without worrying about the 1st being 32nd

Poitras announces a new agent today.
Lohrei with the cryptic Instagram post.
Feels like enough smoke to me.

Hanley could be flipped for sure. Pachal, I'm not so sure if he has any market value. Plus, you really need a 7th D in case of injuries, and I understand the Wranglers are getting pretty thin there.

If the pick is top-5, I would hope the Flames take the deferred pick.
If top-5, pick slides to 2027. Toronto 2027 1st already is included in a trade to Philly, top-10 protected. So if the Toronto 2027 pick is outside the top-10 it goes to Philly, and this pick slides to 2028 unprotected 1st. If it is top-10., Toronto chooses to give the 2027 pick to Boston (us) or Philly, the other team gets the 2028 unprotected.
You can tell it was Brad Treliving trades lol.
